OH THANK GOODNESS. WE FINALLY HAVE A SEQUEL TO THAT BELOVED PS1 RACING GAME EVERYONE REMEMBERS. JUST WHAT ALL OF THE FANS WERE LOOKING FOR, INSTEAD OF, LIKE, A FFVII REMAKE. YES. ALL CAPS.
This game's trailer made me smile immensely. That is a very hard thing for any game to accomplish. They could have done without the use of epic in the title, but the game itself seems like it could be really charming and the art style looks intriguing. It's the first Kirby game to hold my attention in years, but I'm interested in hearing more.
There's still a lot more that needs to be seen, but as a fan of Ninja Gaiden both old and new, I like the idea of really flexible cutting mechanics that the trailer seems to present. Pacing may be potentially an issue, but that's not enough to keep this game off the list.
Itagaki is a quirky fellow for sure, but for the past several years, he's had a knack for making his action games smartly intense, especially in the original Xbox Ninja Gaiden. This seems like a continuation of the legacy and the fact that he's not against collaborating with other studios when he needs the help will hopefully make for a better game overall.
I know next to nothing about the Parasite Eve games, but this weird PSP sequel/spin off looked like something that could be up my alley. The protagonist sounds interesting and if Square-Enix, of all studios, can somehow make third-person shooting work well on the PSP, it should make for an enjoyable experience.
I liked Thousand Year Door and the original game before that. I am not against another Paper Mario game entering my life. That is all.
I've never been a huge fan of the Twisted Metal games. Part of that was because I didn't grow up with a PS1 (Genesis/N64 for me) and another part of that was the fact that I was just a bit too young to really appreciate it. On top of that, the style just creeps me the hell out. That's set to continue with this latest game and to be honest, the presentation is really repugnant for my tastes, but the gameplay could still have potential, especially the "nuke mode." It won't be at the top of my most-wanted list, but the fact that I'm not completely apathetic must be worth something.
This does not seem to be like the original game, judging by the footage. As ironic as that may sound, that is a plus in my book. I still want to see more of the actual action, but it could make for a fun romp if they get the mix of flight and on-ground combat right.
It does indeed still have the problem of the trailers not showing off actual gameplay, but my interest in playing this still remains kind of high as a former Star Wars nerd. That's quite an accomplishment for an MMO, as it would be the first one I actually felt compelled to pay for. In the end I probably won't be convinced to pay a recurring monthly fee anyway, but at the very least, I'll still be checking it out from afar.
I never played the original Dead Space. I should probably get around to that at some point, but that didn't stop the brief on-stage demo from catching my eye. As always, I'll want to hear and see a lot more before deciding one way or the other whether to buy it or not, but at the very least, it's on my radar despite my inexperience with the series.
