2013 is going to be hard, since I've mostly been playing older games. Ah well, the stuff which has been released this year have been absolutely top notch.

Gone Home is a short but delightful game which plays upon preconceptions and genre cliches with almost casual ease. I can understand why it is being lauded as an "important" game, as both its execution and subject matter are surprisingly progressive although equally surprising is that they are as such in 2013. One would think something like this would have come along before now, but frankly it hasn't - Gone Home is unique.
