A world, game mechanic and story that is told exclusively through interaction and vista, combined with a set of addicting, challenging and (decreasingly) original puzzles make for a great video gaming experience.
Despite only having watched someone play it, Amnesia is one of the few games every decade that manage to tell story, world and character without non-interactive cutscenes, guns, breasts and other adolescent badassery, while being genuinely scary, involving and original about it.
If you are unable to build a significant narrative, at least be honest about it and focus your ressources elsewhere. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is platforming (nearly) perfected and a thorough, rich gaming experience that lacks the insulting parts of other high profile games.
