2016 3ds activity log

One of the great things about the 3ds is that it tracks your game time and how many steps you take with it on your person. Irreverent statistical data but it always interests me to take a look at what I've been playing over the past year...even if that year was as crap as the last one.

I knew I'd forgotten to do something.

Nothing new on the hardware side this year - apart from a new micro sd card to 32gb

Total steps taken - 307 (didn't take it anywhere last year)

Games: 33

Total play time - 52:10 (barely touched it last year it seems)

And here are the top ten games - ignoring software like the activity monitor or eshop.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

1. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Hours: 18:30 I'd done pretty much everything I'd wanted to do in MH4U last year so this isn't really a surprise. Will give you an idea how little I used my 3ds this past year.

Rune Factory 4

2. Rune Factory 4

Hours: 8:48 Stardew Valley got me in the mood for farming rather than killing - but the RPG element was needed to keep me interested. I liked what I played after picking it up on sale - but again I didn't spend much time with it.

Inazuma Eleven

3. Inazuma Eleven

Hours: 6:03 The original ds release. I blame Soccer Spirits for this. I have zero interest in football/soccer. Literally nadda. However the idea of an rpg based around football seemed interesting enough that for some reason I bought the series up to the Go:Light release. I've only played the first DS game but given that I put 6 hours into it..it would suggest that I enjoyed what I played - once I worked out how the passing mechanics work. It's an interesting series and one I should get back to this year.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

4. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

Hours: 3:20 I prefer this game to 4U. Despite the lack of verticality and the added water segments, I think the maps and monster are far better.

LBX: Little Battlers eXperience

5. LBX: Little Battlers eXperience

Hours: 1:43 I gave Level 5 a lot of my money last year. It's a gundam rpg by any other name with level 5s usual attention to detail. It's in my 3ds at the moment and I will get back to it soon. Danball Senki is a much better name than LBX though..ergh,

Project X Zone

6. Project X Zone

Hours - 1:49 I did some maps I think and then traded in most of my 3ds games for my Xbone (I haven't actively bought a console with money since my now dead ps3 about 5 years ago). I'll have to pick this one up again as well as the sequel.

Final Fantasy Explorers

7. Final Fantasy Explorers

Hours: 1:34 Burn it. Burn it with fire. A terrible PSO clone that I happily only rented. Ergh. Let us not speak of it again.

Monster Hunter Generations

8. Monster Hunter Generations

Demo - hours 1:03 It's odd that I, a hardened MH fan, didn't buy generations. Well..I kinda expected XX to be announced and from what I heard Generations (or X in Japan) just wasn't that great..with tons of filler. Given that the Switch was announced I think there's a good chance we may see a Switch version of XX down the line. Whether it will be released in the West - that's a different question. Nintendo is bugging me to buy the game with deals and offers so I may cave soon anyway..sigh.

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl

9. Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl

Demo - Hours 1:08 Etrian..with a storyline? Waaaaaaaaaat? I enjoyed the demo..but I enjoy Etrian games generally so that's not much of a stretch. So expensive though for a game I finished ages ago. Maybe on sale.

Stella Glow

10. Stella Glow

Demo - 56 mins This was the one demo that made me go 'hold up - I need this game.' SRPG goodness. I still haven't managed to get a good deal on this game but as soon as I see one it shall be mine. Oh yes.
