This is a list of my 10 favourite games I played in 2016 (alternative title: 10 games that are better than Quantum Break). We'll kick this list off with some honourable mentions:
Destiny: Rise of Iron
Yes I'm one of 'those people'. Destiny probably counts for around 80% of my gaming time this year. While the latest update is a little thin on content it was my first time going into a raid blind. Beating that thing is one of my all time gaming highlights.
Quantum Break
I really wanted to like this game and it was okay. I think it had a really strong first couple of episodes but the story just fell flat for me.
Watch Dogs 2
I'm only 5 hours in to this but it seems really cool so far
Bound
This game is just a treat for the senses but I just wish the game part of it was more engaging
DOOM
DOOM is...fine? I liked what I played of it but I fell off it and haven't been back since.
AM2R
As a fan of the original this remake is a wonderful update to and often overlooked game. It might be the best Metroid game
Other games I bought but didn't get a chance to play: Mirrors Edge Catalyst and The Last Guardian
Now on to the list :)

HLD is an old game released on todays technology. I love everything about it, the tight but difficult combat, the textless narrative, the vagueness of the map given to you in a foreign land. It's a pure delight and more people should be talking about it.
Firewatch is everything I want from a tight narrative game. The sheer level of character that the actors are able to put in to the guises of Henry and Delilah is astonishing.
How long can solving line puzzles be fun for? I can't remember how many hours I put into the Witness but it was a bunch and not once was I bored. It's a world full of intrigue and mystery that doesn't fail to deliver.
