But first,
Nier: Automata, to me this is just such well trodden material and does little to differentiate from the rest. I never felt for the robutts, never had a crisis of conscience about hacking them to pieces, the narrative was a bit of a mess and the gameplay boring.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Fifteen minutes of running with bad controls that culminates in 30 seconds of clunky gunplay is not my idea of a good multiplayer experience.
But hey, have you heard of Rainbow Six: Siege, you might recall it from The Bestest Most Accurate GOTY of 2016? It's still getting new content, is very very good and will give you those adrenaline rushes in spades.

Compared to it's predecessor, what it lacks in character development, it more than makes up for in gameplay improvements and STYYYYYLE. Easy win here.
Strong debut for a new IP with an interesting backstory and incredible combat.

While the gameplay was lacking, meeting with Horton has to be one of my absolute favourite cutscenes ever.

How did you get in here?! We're starting to get into the podcast -game territory here and WILDLANDS excels as one of those. You get to be tacticool and stuff. I like tacticool.
Great gameplay, story is meh, endgame grind is very dull.
Hellblade is a very interesting game in terms of narrative and audio design, but the gimmick gets old pretty quickly.
A slightly fresher take on Assassin's Creed, but ends up firmly in the aforementioned podcast -category. Very much a checklist game with mediocre gameplay.
