Returnal

1. Returnal

I just about gave up on Returnal once, before I realized that there was a save point after the third level. I'm glad that I didn't, it was one of the most challenging, but most rewarding games that I've played. I love the Alien vibe.

Metroid Dread

2. Metroid Dread

While I enjoyed the 3D Metroid games, I always held out hope that we'd see another 2D entry in the series. While the E.M.M.I. sections didn't impress me, I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of my time with the game.

Resident Evil Village

3. Resident Evil Village

I hadn't played any Resident Evil games in a long time. I'll be paying closer attention to the series, as RE8 was fun from start to finish.

Inscryption

4. Inscryption

What a surprise. I love card/board games, but have never enjoyed a "deck-building roguelike", until now, that is. The atmosphere is what really made this for me, along with the ability to use multiple strategies effectively.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

5. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

It's fun. If you have beaten the scalpers, but still haven't tried it, give it a shot.

6. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

Some of the best dialog that I've ever heard in a game.

Super Mario 3D World

7. Super Mario 3D World

This is strictly for Bowser's Fury. I couldn't find it in the database, but I truly enjoyed my short time with it.

Deathloop

8. Deathloop

I enjoyed this. As a whole, I don't believe that 2021 was really a banner year for games, and I don't think this would have been in my top 10 in most other years, but this year it is.

Psychonauts 2

9. Psychonauts 2

I didn't enjoy it as much as the first Psychonauts, but I'm glad that the folks at Double Fine decided to revisit this world.

Unpacking

10. Unpacking

I still don't know why you can't hang your diploma over the toilet.
