Persona 5 Royal

1. Persona 5 Royal

The best RPG I've played, without qualification.

Hades

2. Hades

It's an outstanding rogue-like, and a great return to form for Supergiant Games.

Genshin Impact

3. Genshin Impact

I've never truly enjoyed a free-to-play game, let alone considered any one of the best games of the year. It's like BoTW, but much better.

Ghost of Tsushima

4. Ghost of Tsushima

What a great game. I especially like the method that the developers used as a bread crumb trail.

The Last of Us Part II

5. The Last of Us Part II

The first half, and the end, were some of my favorite moments this year. I understand what they were trying to do with Abby, but it just didn't work for me.

Cyberpunk 2077

6. Cyberpunk 2077

Tried it on PS4, and absolutely hated it. Bought it again on my old and busted PC, and loved it. It's a solid game, certainly not as revolutionary as advertised, but fun nonetheless.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

7. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Helped to ease a lot of pandemic-related boredom.

Doom Eternal

8. Doom Eternal

An absolute joy of an action game, from start to finish.

Streets of Rage 4

9. Streets of Rage 4

It's a great throwback, which adds in enough modernization to be played and enjoyed today, and not just for the nostalgia hit.

Demon's Souls

10. Demon's Souls

This is the only game on any of my GOTY lists which I haven't played. But, I have no doubt that once the scum of the earth scalpers stop snatching up every PS5, I'll love it.
