My Top 10 GBA Games

The pinnacle of handheld gaming. I say so because it's basically a better SNES that fits in your pocket. Heck yes.

Metroid Fusion

1. Metroid Fusion

Freaking amazing. It's a perfect, polished Metroid experience that's tailored for portability. There is honestly not a moment of this game that's lacking, and I have beaten it over a dozen times. LOVE IT.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

2. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

The funniest game I have ever played, with the best JRPG battle system ever created. It's beautiful and lengthy, too, and extremely creative. Too bad its sequel kind of sucks. Bowser's Inside Story is fantastic, thankfully.

WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!

3. WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!

Incredible for band trips, and random contests between friends. The game is a perfect fit for someone as riddled with ADD as me. Oh yeah, and Twisted is pretty great as well.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

4. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

The best of the GBA Castlevania games, and a lot better than Symphony of the Night. It's super inventive, gorgeous, challenging, and has a great soundtrack. Only its direct sequel is superior in this series.

Advance Wars

5. Advance Wars

A very well balanced brutally difficult strategy game that stands out on a system with loads of great strategy games. The sequels got even crazier!

Astro Boy: Omega Factor

6. Astro Boy: Omega Factor

Color me surprised. This game is super cool, an absolute blast. I see why Treasure is well regarded for their 2D games.

Metroid: Zero Mission

7. Metroid: Zero Mission

Another great Metroid game for the system? Sign me up! I'm in the camp that Fusion is better...but Zero Mission is still an amazing game.

Mother 3

8. Mother 3

A bizarre, very intriguing fun RPG. Japan-only, so I played a ROM with the fan-made English patch. It's great, and surprisingly deep and dark from a story perspective. It goes some interesting places that I've never seen games explore, and I'm frankly surprised that Nintendo made this. Check it out if you can!

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

9. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Not quite as good as I was expecting in many ways, but the main questline is very rewarding and polished. The side quests are incredibly lazy, almost exclusively centered on the lame kinstone things.

Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire

10. Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire

It's ultimately not all that different from the previous games, but it does do some interesting new things. Like the abilities. And it maintains the uncanny knack for sucking your life away...
