Best of 2012 - So far

So this year, I'm back in action and working at EA Digital Illusions CE. Which means I have a lot more possibilities to purchase games.

Same procedure as last year. I'll arrange all of the games I've bought 2012 and then that will be the Top 10 by the end of the year.

The Walking Dead

1. The Walking Dead

Oh the last episode. I was in tears. Not man-tears, real tears.

Journey

2. Journey

Wow... just wow.. €12 for a two hour game can seem steep but damn... I'll just leave this here: “Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.” -Greg Anderson

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

3. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Very engaging. Fascinating stories from the battlefield.

Far Cry 3

4. Far Cry 3

While the last hour of the story was a bit of a drag, it's overall a solid package and definitely my surprise love for this year. Came out of nowhere and blew me away.

Spec Ops: The Line

5. Spec Ops: The Line

Damn this game was a weird trip down insanity. Glad to see a game where the rules of engagement are thrown out the door and treated accordingly.

Mass Effect 3

6. Mass Effect 3

This game tied everything together so nicely, which makes it the strongest game in the series for me. I'm just so torn up with the ending. ME3 made me cry at points, but the ending made me cry of the wrong reason.. of feeling empty and wondering what the point is.

Dishonored

7. Dishonored

Came in the second to last day of the year, but it would be unfair not to push it in there. Really solid mechanics and a competent plot.

Sleeping Dogs

8. Sleeping Dogs

This was a pleasant surprise. While it had it's problems, they were quite minor compared to an exceptional flow in combat, movement and driving. Plus the undercover cop story is certainly the best one in a video game that I have ever seen. Well done.

Hotline Miami

9. Hotline Miami

The soundtrack alone is a reason to adore this game. Not to mention the rage it produces in you. Though this rage is good. You rage and you want to go again.

FTL: Faster Than Light

10. FTL: Faster Than Light

Fun and engaging.
