So I recently rediscovered my love for the blue bomber, and seeing as there is little chance of a new Megaman game coming out I thought I would reminisce about happier blueier times....

Bet you weren't expecting that! Yeah megaman 4 is my favorite of the classic series. This is the megaman game I had as a kid and I just loved it. Like many people my favorite Megaman game was the one I played the most and I guess I'm no exception. I'm a huge fan of all of the robot masters even the weird ones (yeah Toadman!) and I feel this was the turning point in the series. This game is when Megaman went from normal NES level of weird to straight up campy. Robot masters like pharaoh man and skull man and dust man set the stage for the really far out ones later on. Some hate that and some people like me love it.
To say this is my second favorite Megaman game is tough, I mean holy crap is this game good. It definitely has more stuff to do then any of the classic series, and as a kid I loved this game way more then any of the classic games. But as I've gotten older I look back at the classic series more fondly then the X series. It could be that I like the goofier more campy classic series than the "more serious" X series. Or perhaps it's just as a whole the classic series is much better than the X series (I think every classic game is worth playing however I firmly believe that only the first 4 X games are) I donno, but at this moment this game sits at #2.
Like most other people I didn't play Mega man 6 on the NES, I played it on the 15th aniversry PS2 collection. Some people say it's the most over looked of the classic series and I think they may be right. By the time this game came out most people where done with Megaman, Capcom did what capcom does and released games in mass in a short period of time. People were done with megaman and it's to bad it had to happen to this one,. It introduced a lot of interesting mechanics (Rush suit anyone), and pushed the NES graphics. It's a solid entry into the franchise, and deserves more respect.
The battle network games, yeah we in a whole other ball park with these games. Like really it's a whole other time line, even Capcom kinda brushes these games under the table, but I loved these games as a kid (the first 2, even as a kid I could see these games jumping the shark). The second one does everything a good sequel should, it advanced the story, improved the mechanics, and never seemed unnecessary. These games where like RPG's for dummies and it had megaman(sort of). For quite a while the BN version of megaman was all you would see of him, in fact it's the BN megaman's face that's on the 15th megaman anniversary logo, so he was megaman for a while. To be honest I never played the 3rd game. I skipped right to the fourth, I thought well this one has to be 1+ better than 3. Damn it was bad. Like so bad. Like I stopped playing it even though I wasn't stuck bad, and I never looked back. It looks like most other people didn't ether because after battle network 5 this series vanished.
So why is this game here you ask? or possibly you don't... I'm actually assuming a lot figuring anyone else will even read this. I really like this game, it was Capcoms last attempt at making a AAA megaman game. Megaman 9 and 10 were very good but they weren't proper 360 or PS3 games. Not to say that in it self is a bad thing but I would love to see what would happen if they did dump the resources into a current gen game. But anywho this was intended as a full ps1 game (and Saturn but... lol Saturn). What we got was a modern Megaman game, not a Megaman X game, or some other spin off but a proper Megaman classic game. The result is... well I like it. This game would dictate megamans image for the following decade and a half. Until the smash bro's announcement at this years E3 this was the only way Megaman was represented in non pixalated form. Capcom tryed new things, it took a chance, and this was the result, I wish they would keep trying new things.
