Overview
The Three-Headed Monkey is a running gag in the
Monkey Island series. The line "Look behind you, a three-headed monkey!" is usually uttered by
Guybrush Threepwood to distract someone or to escape from danger, usually to no avail. What horrible actions were taken to bring about this grotesque, yet beautiful monster? A experiment gone wrong? A perverse ritual? An act of God?
Appearances
The Three-Headed Monkey first appears in the cannibals' village in
The Secret of Monkey Island. Unfortunately he makes no appearance in
Monkey Island 2. He appears in
Curse of Monkey Island, but only has a puppet on the roller coaster in the themed park of the damned. His third appearance is in
Herman Toothrot's flashback in
Escape from Monkey Island. He also appears in monkey town if you hang around long enough. He does not appear in any of the episodes of Tales of Monkey Island, but he is mentioned during the trial and execution of Guybrush Threepwood.
