Overview
American Revolt is a critically acclaimed expansion to the highly successful Syndicate, developed by Bullfrog Productions and released in 1993. It requires the original game and includes 3 new weapons, 21 new single player missions and 10 multiplayer missions.
Only the PC version of the expansion was released in stores; at the time, EA was scaling down their Amiga releases but Future Publishing's magazine Amiga Format (who had published a guide written by Bullfrog in 1992) picked up the rights and sold it through mail order.
Backstory
The game takes place in the 22nd century, after the events of the original game. The entire world is now controlled by the Eurocorp mega-corporation. The company has become extremely powerful after inventing the CHIP, which is a cybernetic implant capable of altering the perceptions of citizens so that the reality of the dystopia in which they reside is perceived as a utopia.
The citizens of North and South America, tired of high taxes and crime addled cities are rebelling against their Eurocorp overlords in order to regain their autonomy. Rival Syndicates are using the revolt as an opportunity to gain an upper hand in the ongoing struggle for global supremacy.
The player takes on the role of a Eurocorp Syndicate executive charged with stopping the American Revolt that threatens Eurocorp's very existence.
