Blizzard said it would be released in summer but the small text at the bottom says "by June 16, 2016" or something like that. Definitely mid-June.

@atwa This was announced before Battleborn and it looks way more interesting.

Where the hell did this game come from? A super colorful fast paced shooter with giant apes? Sign me in!

This is way more TF2 than it is a MOBA. The only MOBA-like thing is that it uses "heroes" with "ultimates".

Also, the monkey character still looks terrible in first person. What were they thinking with that arm animation?

"What is Overwatch?"

I wonder how much this game will earn them. It's kind of a weird business model, a 60 dollar arena shooter in a time where free arena shooters like TF2 exist. People will either back out of it because of the price tag or just buy the standard price of a game. There's not really a way to earn them that extra cash that keeps flowing in after a while. It's a nice looking game but the game modes look too much like TF2 and I doubt it will be enough to convince people to buy it over other games of its genre.

Since there's also no Daily objectives (although this might change, if they're smart) or level progression that leads to neat unlocks or something to look forward too I wonder if it has any staying power, much like Battlefront.

I haven't been one for multiplayer shooters for a while, but this looks pretty cool

By the way, i agree, this does look cool.

not for me as I like more control and coordination in my fps I mean I would have been trying to use the voice to coordinate teams and such. But then I never played quake so ...and yup if Dan gave anime a try he would enjoy a lot of it.

How did they notice John Marston but not Egyptian Samus?

I think I might have been the first person ever to sign up for this beta forever ago. Based on the fact that blizzard won't flag me for the beta, I hate this game and will continue to do so until they let me play it. Furthermore, I now hate you because you can play it.

Seeing Dan get this excited is infectious. Can't wait to hopefully get into the weekend stress test.

@dezztroy: Yeah the genre is closer to TF2, but the amount of characters and their abilities, including charging and combining alts does change the dynamics more towards MOBA than it might seem at first. Coming from somebody who is in the beta and loves watching quite a bit of "pros" playing this over at twitch.

Composition of the team is crucial on this game as long as you are not playing it very casually. Just after couple of days you start to learn the basic counters.

Imo Blizzard has hit into something quite special with this game.

I got my invite the day fallout 4 and legacy of the void came out, I had preordered both of those things, and I haven't played either yet because I've been playing overwatch so much. I haven't played a multiplayer competitive shooter in the better part of a (if not a) decade. It's really well put together, the heroes are unique and synergize and counter in a way that makes your composition choices feel strategic.

Most importantly to me though, as someone who doesn't play shooters mostly because I have no tolerance for toxicity, it does some clever things with the design that seems to be minimizing a lot of the abusive behavior that comes with this sort of game (at least so far, maybe because it's still a limited player pool). I'm curious to see what they do with the metrics generated from the player rating stuff they added this week, could be a neat way to clean some of that up. They're certainly trying.

I'm having a lot of fun and I'm in love with this game.

PS: having played this and battleborn there is next to no comparison between them in terms of gameplay. the only similarity is that there are heroes.

I like everything about this except for the levels which seem to be completely at odds with the character design. Like it doesn't mesh well at all.

I bet initially they had more head movement to simulate his character movement but it was too disorienting.

Things game looks great, hope I'm part of the beta this weekend.

As someone with over 1000 hours played in TF2 and about 20 hours so far in the Overwatch beta, I can say that I have finally found an FPS again that I can obsess over like TF2.

Fantastic game.

@tissot: Yeah, but team composition has always been a huge part of all class-based shooters, so I don't really see that as a MOBA thing. Even things like CS has the need for a balance set of weapons in the team.

@vn1x: yea, and not to mention the 1hr long panel they had at blizzcon dedicated explicitly to the story.

lets be honest though, there is a story/lore that informs the map design, but it doesn't really matter.

I'm loving the Overwatch beta so far, will probably play this on PS4 when it comes out. There are certain things that will take some getting used to for people that only play console shooters though: team composition, knowing match-ups and changing your character mid-match if necessary, hero combinations. It's so much fun though.

Fun fact: The girl with the pink mech, D.va, is (in-universe) a pro Starcraft player

I am really looking forward to playing this, apparently people do not at all understand the advantages of being above others in a shooter, seeing as the vast majority of people here are just... on the ground. Titanfall was kinda the same way.

Brad's complete lack of knowledge about TF2 conventions like spawning at the base until an Engie builds a teleporter drove me up a wall throughout the entire video. It's really sad that Overwatch is getting roped in with all these MOBA Shooters, because it's obviously going for a TF2 vibe. Which is much appreciated considering how few games have tried to replicate that, and I feel like Overwatch is going to be very successful with that crowd now that TF2 itself is being overlooked by Valve so often nowadays.

I don't blame Brad, he's never played the game really, but it was still quite annoying.

Still anxiously awaiting my invite. I'd really like to get in on the ground level with a new FPS for once, instead of wandering in a year after release and getting ripped to shreds by old pros.

This game looks mad fresh, yo. I just hope they add some sort of progression or other reason to keep playing to keep me interested.
