Overview
SEGA Genesis Classics (also known in Europe as SEGA Mega Drive Classics and in some storefronts as SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics) is a video game compilation developed by d3t and digitally published by Sega for the PC on April 28, 2016.
An extension of the numerous "SEGA Genesis Classics" releases of Sega Genesis games on Steam from 2010-2012, the SEGA Genesis Classics hub presents a single interface for numerous Sega Genesis games (including previously-bought "SEGA Genesis Classics" releases). In addition to the new interface (which resembles an interactive 3D bedroom), this hub supports numerous graphical filters and Steam Workshop support for ROM hacks.
The compilation was later released, with most games included, for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 29, 2018, adding online matchmaking, leaderboards, bonus challenge modes, optional region switching for some games, and support for save states, rewinding, and fast forwarding. All of these features, along with VR headset support, were also added to the PC version at the same time. VR support was later added to the PS4 version.
