Overview
The term "Redshirt" is used to describe an expendable NPC, often unnamed, whom the audience can expect to die horribly at any moment. It originates from the original Star Trek (Franchise) television series where Starfleet security officers wore red-colored uniforms. When these no-name characters, played by no-name actors, went on away missions, they almost always died.
