Is Destiny even a good enough game, meaning game-play and fairness of leveling up/enjoyment without playing with a "clan" or MMO team, that it's worth the $48 (Best Buy GCU) I'd pay in Sept. for everything?
From the alpha/beta last year, it appeared to have a Halo style story driven campaign, with Dinklage in the Cortana role, but with far less outdoor big set piece action, and more encounters of three to four enemies at a time like Borderlands.
Then it also seemed to have a typical arena multiplayer, the only mode I could play was something like Call of Duty 2's three-base quick-capture knock off of Battlefields conquest mode. With only 3 bases and the fact they transfer so quickly (and with so few players per team), it means one team captures B while one captures A, then first team heads to C while second team heads to B. No shootouts ever happen.
Finally, it seemed to have a Mass Effect type home city, but at least in the beta, almost nothing was interactive, and most of what seemed would be, looked like shops only. (Not a lot of story or side quests coming from it.)
But then all I ever hear people talk about online are MMO "raids",
I mostly didn't like how the game seemed so quiet, no thumping drum soundtrack like Halo over the action.
What is Destiny?
