I was thinking about Wreck-It Ralph again today, because I haven't watched it since I saw it in theatres. I should go pick up that and Big Hero 6, rewatch them both.

Of all the movies generally considered good (or so-bad-it's-good, like The Wizard) about video games, none are an actual adaptation of a video game. The Wizard is about a tournament. King of Kong and Indie Game: The Movie are about gaming culture, the lives of the people who make and play games. Wreck-It Ralph, the TRON franchise, and The Last Starfighter are all adaptations of games that didn't actually exist (until after the film did). Heck, most anime involving video games are about fictional MMO's, using the game as inspiration for an original story (Final Fantasy Unlimited) or the lives of gamers. I guess you could count the Animal Crossing movie. It's pretty uneventful, but it's cute, and I'm still mystified why it was never officially brought to the U.S.

If I ran a news station, especially one that didn't specialize in video games, I'd try to get Jeff or some other video game journalist to do little segments or come in and talk whenever games came up in the media. Explain things, do guest articles about conventions, new games, opinion pieces on game-related stuff, because I come across huge errors when there isn't someone to fact-check.

I read two articles recently that I could tell weren't fact-checked. One claimed Pokémon Go was based on a franchise that was primarily a card game, and the other claimed Rooster Teeth created Homestuck and Rick & Morty. In the long run, it's not a huge deal, just a pet peeve of mine, but still.

There needs to be a word or phrase for a game you remember wanting as a kid, but didn't get to play until now. It's related to nostalgia-- at least, it is in my eyes. Even if the game's bad, you just gotta play it to let your inner child be satisfied. Anyone else had that happen to them?

Update on my anime to-do list: Currently binging Baccano! No idea why I didn't watch this back when it first came out, I ended up waiting until right when Funimation was about to lose the rights to it. Jacuzzi (adorable as all hell), Fiero (nice kid, dig the Brooklyn accent), Isaac, and Miria (hilariously dumb, with a romance as sweet as corn syrup) are all great, English voice acting is pretty fantastic, and that jazzy soundtrack is swingin'. I kinda hope there's a recut of it out there, though-- they Pulp Fiction the hell out of the timeline, and sometimes it's hard to keep up.

@jesushammer: Pretty much. One episode was just mostly a recap of the last episode, with new things only happening in the last five minutes. Which actually works worse when binging, as I don't need a recap when I remember what happened. Shows with recaps should have an option on streaming sites to skip to a timestamp wherever the recap ends.

Dang. This is really making me want to start watching True Detective. All it needs is a title card, and it's flawless.

@stonyman65: I worked in a supermarket a year or two ago, and I remember mayo with olive oil being a popular item. I don't think it'd work on most sandwiches, though.

I don't mind Dan's amiibo obsession. Heck, if I had the money, I'd probably be doing the same right now. The fact that he's buying so many pays off for the GB staff, because they get to use the amiibo functionality without having to buy their own, which is nice. I didn't know you could do that. It's good to try new things, you never know what you might be interested in.

@pyrodactyl: I've seen a little Attack on Titan, but the pacing was really bad (I stopped around the first time Eren turned into a Titan), so I put it aside and haven't gone back to it. I do really like the characters, though-- I even own a little chibi Eren keychain that's sitting on my dresser right now. Maybe I'll finally get off my ass and return to it.

Let's see...I don't mind romance, but I prefer it to stay to a subplot (I think Ouran High School Host Club did it well-- I didn't mention that one previously because I only read the manga), I'm not a fan of fanservice (unless it's something like Panty and Stocking or Lupin, where it serves a purpose), I don't really know anything about sports or the idol industry, so I haven't watched anything in that area. And G Gundam (another I forgot to mention, alongside Cyborg 009-- the version they showed on Toonami) is my only reference point with mecha, so I don't really have a solid opinion on that genre, either. I really enjoyed G Gundam, though. I hope that helps!

I've posted this elsewhere, but I'd like some suggestions on what else to watch. I've seen very little anime (comparatively to other people), and I've heard a lot of "this is good, please watch it," but no explanation on why, exactly, or what the shows are about.

Here is what I've enjoyed in the past. I'm leaving out series that I've only seen an episode or two of, as I don't think they really count:

Anime:JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012 anime), Cowboy Bebop (haven't seen the movie yet), Lupin III (Red Jacket, Castle of Cagoliostro), Trigun, Blue Submarine no. 6, Silent Moebius, Azumanga Daioh, Cromartie High School, FLCL, Puella Magi Madoka Magica (I've really only seen the compilation movies), Studio Ghibli (Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso), Akira, The Animatrix, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! (original series only), Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Yes! Pretty Cure 5

I'm not familiar with the original film. What is it about, without spoiling too much? Why was it remade?

If a film isn't that old, hasn't become outdated, and is still good, over a decade later, why remake it at all? I can see remaking a film that was good the first time if it's about politics or technology, and the issues discussed are still relevant, even if names need to be updated or changed.
