First and foremost, I am not defending this but my only guess is that the PC version will have a ramped up difficulty scale as they have mentioned ME3 will be a harder game than ME2. Almost everyone is saying 'Insanity' on the demo is more difficult than in ME2. Thus, 'Normal' on the PC might be 'Hard' on the consoles.
In that sense, I can understand why Bioware might want to avoid the confusion that some (very average) players might experience when they plug in their controllers into their PCs, select Normal or whatever and then proceed to get their asses handed to them. I know that there are plenty of people who play on consoles that will swear that they can get a headshot faster than most PC players but Bioware might be thinking of the most average of the average in this case. Personally, I can get a headshot off those shield dudes in the demo without dropping a sweat but it would take some serious practice for me to do that over and over on my controller.
As others have said before, MMOs require some considerable investment in before you can evaluate them properly and that evaluation only holds up for some time because the game changes over time. I think Jeff also provides an insight that's pretty unique as he is mostly solitary and the enjoyment of most MMOs comes from doing things with your friends.
I hate doing menial tasks but I could be shoveling dirt and I think one could find fun in that task if they're doing it with friends around. I think some people make that mistake an MMO being good when they get that feeling, all an MMO can do is to facilitate the rewards and incentives to continue to do those activities. So, when Jeff tells me it's not so great I can understand he's not making that mistake by his playstyle.
I got to lvl 23 as a Smuggler after participating in a couple weekend betas and having an ok time. I just flat-out didn't care about playing anymore after a couple days of playing. I had my pre-order canceled before I got charged. I might be tired of that style of mmo combat after 5+ years of wow but the story really didn't catch me as it did on the imperial side.
Currently been doing it on and off this year, I really enjoy it. I've gone a step further and i've started to play some of the games they were talking about in whatever cast I'm on. Its been slow but great. I love it when they make predictions and hint about games that are amazing or old news today. Like Jeff predicting the future with Duke Nukem coming out in 09 or the guys getting excited about fighting games making a comeback with SF4.
