Games as grown-up entertainment, let alone art

While some of us fire volleys back and forth in the Games are/n't Art scuffles, some folks still insist that games are complete wastes of time.  I'm definitely preaching to the choir here, so the following letter is less an attempt to convert folks than it is to bring up the old cliche: that saying something is like a video game is a code word for saying something is bad.

I mean, we still say that about comic books, although I think that medium has had its share of big wins (hell, Chris Ware won a damned Booker Prize!).
