Red is the silent protagonist of the original Pokémon Red/Blue and its remakes, and has since made numerous return appearances in the franchise. In Pokémon Gold and Silver, Red is the champion. Ash Ketchum from the Pokémon anime is based on this character.
Riley (Japanese name Gen) is a Pokémon Trainer from Sinnoh. His main pokemon is Lucario and he shares alot of similarities with the character Sir Aaron from the 8th pokemon movie. Riley will trust the player with a Riolu egg before leaving the iron island.

Roark is the first Gym Leader of Sinnoh. He favours Rock Types and his father is another Gym Leader, Byron. His gym is located in Oreburgh City.
Roxanne is the first gym leader in the Ruby/Sapphire Pokemon games. She is located in Rustboro City and specializes in rock-type Pokemon.
The leader of the Pokémon gym in Saffron City, and holder of the Soul Badge. She uses psychic-type Pokémon.
Serena is the female protagonist from Pokémon X/Y.
Shauna is a friend and rival of the player from Vaniville Town in Pokémon X and Y.
A member of the Unova (Isshu) Elite Four. Shikimi specializes in training Ghost Type Pokemon.
Sidney is the first of the Elite Four in the Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald games. He specializes in dark-type Pokemon.
The rival character of Pokemon Gold & Silver and in their remakes Hearth Gold & Soul Silver. He is revealed to be the son of the Team Rocket leader Giovanni.
The sixth Gym leader who resides in Fukiyose City in Pokemon Black/White. She gives the Jet Badge when defeated.
Steven is the Hoenn Pokémon Champion. He specializes in Steel-type Pokémon.
Tate is the seventh gym leader, along with his sister Liza, in the Ruby/Sapphire Pokemon games. He is located in Mossdeep City and specializes in psychic-type Pokemon. Liza is his older sister.
Tierno is a friend and rival of the player in Pokémon X and Y.
Trevor is a friend and rival of the player in Pokémon X and Y.
Volkner is the final Gym Leader in Sinnoh, specializing in Electric Pokemon.
