Also I would watch the fuck out of a MGS endurance run type series. It would be super awesome if they started at the MSX versions and went forward (I had a couple buddies that were doing that, think they're up to MGS3 at this point).

No, Metal Gear Solid wouldn't lend itself to an endurance run very well due to the lengthy cut scenes.

No, I'm cool. The Dan/Drew duo is hot right now, but I think Dan would not be able to shut up about anything Metal Gear while playing it, and Drew might not be able to match his enthusiasm.

It's like watching a movie with someone who constantly recites scenes and says, "OMG! Look, look, look, you're gonna love this! Watch, watch!"

I want Dan to be on an ER, but not MGS.

I would love to, but the Metal Gear Solid games remain firmly lodged in my backlog and I fully intend to get around to them. Sometime. I've had a couple of false starts before that were killed by impatience with ridiculously long codec scenes and inexperience with stealth games in general (read: repeatedly getting my ass kicked.) I suppose it would be kind of cool to play along and just be a few hours ahead constantly or something.

I said it before and I'll say it again, this would be FANTASTIC. Seems like things are going to be pretty dead for the rest of the year, just saying.

I might? I've never been interested enough in actually playing them myself, mostly because all the bits of the lore that I absorbed over the years sounded convoluted and insane enough to keep me away, but I'd totally watch someone as entertaining as Dan and Drew play through them.

I was hoping from that video that it would spawn itself. I think it'd be hilarious. Drew really seemed...intrigued...by the story lines.

I would love to see this. MGS is my favorite series and Dan seems to really have a genuine love for it so it would be great to see him introduce Drew to the series.

And just a random thought since I just like the Dan and Drew pairing - I'd also like to see Drew try to teach Dan a flight sim.

Nah, at this point I've seen the content of those games to death. Seeing them again with Drew and/or Dan pontificating over the deeper meaning behind the game design doesn't sound like it's going to give me anything meaningful in the way of entertainment or insight. I say if Dan's going to make a video series make him play a career mode in a wrestling game where he creates the most hideous wrestler possible and proceeds to conquer all belts.

You can buy the original MGS on PSN and play it on your Vita since it's a PS1 classic.

If you have a Gamecube I highly recommend getting the Twin Snakes remake for that instead.

I would watch a stream of this nature only if they built a "Wait, I'm confused" counter that tracked the number of times Drew said that or some variation to Dan while watching the play through.

I really hope that it goes well and they end up doing MGS2. That one's especially ripe for overexplaining.

I like that Dan made a point that they'd seriously try to pay attention and not MST3K their way through the codecs and such. I hope it goes well and Drew can handle the controls/figure out the puzzles swiftly enough, a lot of how efficiently this series goes (and how deep it goes) will obviously depend on how quickly he can solve what the games ask of him.

I keep thinking of Patrick trying to get through the damn fence in the MGS HD Quick Look and how most of that video is him and Jeff running in a circle in one of the very first areas of the game proper.

I... I would watch it but I'm not sure they should do it. I'd almost rather watch the Metal Gear story unfold without commentary, Drew & Dan are great but I'd like to focus on the story in this particular case. Plus Dan knowing what's up going in would spoil a lot for people who haven't played it before.

I'd have loved to have seen this. However, given what Dan told Drew in that show it'd ruin quite a lot of the awesome moments in the games.

It'd still be awesome to watch but just having a few things ruined would lower the entertainment value of it quite a bit.

I've never watched a full endurance run, and this isn't exactly one of those, but damn if I'd miss a single episode of this! I love that this is going to be a thing.

Most definitely. I still haven't made up my mind on whether or not I'll be buying MGS5 when it comes out but one thing that makes me lean towards "no" is that I've never played a full MGS game and I really don't feel like going back and playing all of them.

And go nuts with it. Have the PS3 set up with the MGS database "app" there at the end of the feature's lifespan.

(I think the database has a couple inconsistencies with the games, whatever)

But yeah just having MGS1 up and running on the PS3 with the smoothing/upscale is fine, and Dan & Drew going through it sounds like a good crazy time.

I thnk it would actually be much better if it were just Drew solo. The idea of him trying to make heads or tails of all the nonsense in those games with zero assistance would be faaaaantastic.

@csl316: Yeah, I mean there are some decent things about Twin Snakes but some of the cutscenes are fucking GARBAGE. Some I sorta like a bit more (Sniper Wolf) but mostly the original was just better.
