999% YES.
Metal Gear is the best.
Giant Bomb is the best.
WHOSE FOOTPRINTS ARE THESE YA HEARD
Yes, yes, and YES! Also, I tweeted the idea to Dan and his response was simply, "I AGREE." I think if they did it like it was mentioned above as a Load Our Last Souls feature where they do one episode per week, it would work. It is not that long of a game either, and Drew deserves to find out just how amazing MGS1 is. Metal Gear Solid is pretty self-contained story wise and has so many great easter eggs and little secrets that are so much fun. It's my favorite game of all time, so any opportunity to showcase it again has my vote for sure.
I'm trying to remember, but how long are these games on average? I am thinking 15 or so hours each?
Yeah, with the cutscenes. If you skip them and you know what you're doing it can be a lot less. I used to be able to finish MGS2 in about two hours on normal ha.
I desperately want this, although only if Drew is driving Snake. We need everything from MG1 MSX all the way through Ground Zeroes, including Revengeance. Tall order of course, but hey.
Nothing against the old guard whatsoever, but now that dan's with them i actually think this is a possibility. Do eet.
(I haven't even really played any metal gear)
Would like to see Dan teach Drew the MG Solid series and Drew teach Dan sim games...as in the genre, not The Sims series.
Nope. I would actually avoid seeing any content about MGS. I think adding anything that would be construed as 'support' for MGS games or the series would be disappointing. You asked, and that is what I think.
I think all of the component parts are great- "Metal Gear", Drew, Dan- etc.
I think Dan and Drew have good video chemistry together.
But I also felt like Drew's response felt like he wasn't going to change his perspective of the "Metal Gear" any time soon.
Dan is quick on the trigger to give away story components.
It is a stealth game...
I do honestly enjoy more obscure or less accessible games- to MGS- which- plot aside- is neither of these things.
@chumley_marchbanks: yes yes yes!
I'd be one of those jerks in the comments pushing my glasses up my nose and say "WELL DAN, IF YOU ACTUALLY KNEW THE LORE, YOU'D REALIZE THAT YOU ARE 100% WRONG! HUMPH!"
But yeah, It's be cool.
Nah. I don't think the games are very well suited to an "endurance run" format. Maybe Ground Zeroes, given how short it is.
That would be interesting because Dan's a living embodiment of America and Drew's pretty much a communist by now.
Dan's enthusiasm for Metal Gear and Drew's willingness to accept how crazy those games get certainly piques my interest in more MGS content. Seeing their reactions to all of the cut scenes and story would be great, but I could see watching the actual gameplay part of it becoming tedious.
yes. yes, I would.
This is pretty awesome duder! Dan looks like he's going to war, and happy to kick some ass.
The Demo Derby is pretty cool, but a MGS series would be better.
I love the idea in theory, but I'm 99% sure there's never been a piece of MGS content on this site that had the time to sit through some of the many 5-20 minute codec sequences in the series. Particularly memorable was when Patrick skipped an entire sequence during I believe the MGS3 section of the HD Quick Look and it still took him nearly a minute just to SKIP it. I'm just not sure that's a load this site can bear; presuming the episodes would range in length from one to two hours, there's a good chance any one episode could be 50% codec sequences. It's compelling stuff on one's own time but I'm not sure how the guys could embellish on it without stepping on the game's lines.
Ehh kinda on the fence about it.
Dan just seems like he blew his whole MGS load on that one tiny bit. He's saying all the great secrets and hilarious bits right off the bat. That seems like it would make the rest of the game kinda dull for Drew. I think the game is too stealth, story, and cut scene oriented for Dan to just be rambling non-stop over it.
As someone else said, I also agree that I like seeing them play stuff I'm not familiar with.
