    The impression I get from this thread is that male gamers, while they are perfectly ok with female exposure in an arousing/sexual way as game content, don't want females to be part of the game industry/community. And that their actions and behaviour is rated more strictly compared to that of males.

    @DoctorWelch:

    That was me, sir. I apologize. I was just angry about all of these negative comments about her, and I lashed out.

    Oh, and for future reference, I'll be turning 34 in July.

    Her character was fine and barely even relevant in the game if you did not want her to be. People are dicks, whatever.

    First of all, to all of the people who called her a bitch, and a cunt, I have to say that I'm seriously pissed off at you guys. Look, I agree that she did a bad vocal performance in the game, and yes her character was unnecessary, but that doesn't give you the right to say bad things about a woman who loves and is genuinely interested in video games.

    When I first played Mass Effect 3, I decided to let her board the ship simply because I wanted as many War assets points as I could get. I kept her on the ship for the rest of the game. But that was a choice, I made, and now, I know I won't need to again.

    You guys seriously need to watch what you say about people like Jessica Chobot. She's just a woman, not a slut.

    Write down name-calling to the immaturity of some, but I do have a right to say what I think about her role in the game whether they are perceived as "bad" or not. I'd do the same with a poor male actor even if he "loves and is genuinely interested in video games."

    Speaking of immaturity, I had no idea there was a dichotomy between women and sluts. Should get some scientists to look at that.

    Sorry, but the way she's portrayed in game is just awful. Her character looks silly and fake, her outfit is nowhere near a reporter's (not even a space reporters, look at that journo we got to punch every ME) and her personality ingame was horribly expendable. There's no way she should have been proud of that character, not in the slightest. Sure, it hurts when people respond to your presence like that but if she's so immersed in the game writing business she too could see what a horrible expendable character she is in the game, little more than forced hype.

    Hey don't forget Wong. She's probably dead, but she did her part back on Earth to fight the Reapers. I really recommend trying to look up her "space" tweets as the invasion is going on.

    Oh, ok.

    While using your sexualised exterior to gain fame and popularity is considered pretty cheap, there are so many people doing it and succeeding with it (just look at the entertainment business), it's kinda strange that 'people' would speak out against it, since they are the ones making it possible for that person to succeed with it in the first place. I think plain jealousy might be a reason this tactic is disliked. Kind of a double-standard though. Scarlet Johansson for example is very over-sexualised and almost every guy likes her. Dunno why Jessica Chobot struggles like that in the gaming community.

    @Morrow: I think her whole licking a PSP and thus becoming famous for it is why people dislike her right? I don't really pay much attention to people in the gaming journalism world, but she seems a decent enough person to me. Scarlett Johansson probably isn't the best example for this though, you don't get to see what she is like as a person, being an actress, but you do get to see what Jessica Chobot is like. Most people who know who she is will, in some way or another, be a nerd, and probably don't like the idea of someone using their looks to gain places in a world they are interested in? But I dunno, people are just bad people. Blokes are over-sexualised also though, just as much as women in films and general media.

    I think it can just be summarised with people are bad.

    Scarlet Johansson didn't lick an award statue. It just feels a little forced with Chobot. I suspect that most gamer's dislike of Jessica Chobot can really be boiled down to a dislike of G4 and how they treated "the gamer demographic" in general. X Play was often the one exception to that rule, so of course they decided to essentially fire the host.

    A day later, she said she was closing down the blog. Then, she updated that post saying she would keep it open, but probably wouldn't use it much anymore.

    This sort of thing doesn't help my opinion of her either. Not in the slightest.

    Gamers can be hateful and immature, but not everyone on the anti-Chobot boat is a misogynistic asshole. I do want females to be a part of the industry and community, but I simply view her as pandering.
