The original Killer Instinct

The Killer Instinct franchise began with the 1994 release of Killer Instinct (Game) in the arcade. The game was published by Midway and developed by Rare. It was eventually released on the Super Nintendo and the Game Boy, both published by Nintendo (Company) and developed by Rare.

The series continued with the release of Killer Instinct 2 (Game) in 1996 on the arcade. The game was only released on the arcade, and was developed by Rare, licensed by Nintendo, and published by Midway. A modified version of Killer Instinct 2 was released on the Nintendo 64 under the title Killer Instinct Gold (Game) in 1996 as well.

After a 17 years hiatus on the franchise, Killer Instinct returned as a Xbox One (Platform) launch title on November 22, 2013.
