Insurgency: Sandstorm
Insurgency: Sandstorm developed by New World Interactive, is the upcoming sequel to Insurgency a Source engine based shooter, itself a successor to the mod of the same name.
Overview:
Insurgency: Sandstorm is a multiplayer tactical first-person shooter that takes place in a contemporary conflict setting where combat takes place between two teams, Security and Insurgents.
Announcement and Changes
Significant changes announced for this sequel include a move from the Source Engine to Unreal Engine 4, the inclusion of vehicles, and a release on consoles. A large blog post by the developers released on the 3rd of January 2018 announced that a planned single player campaign had been cancelled. Additionally the developers stated that their initial plans to portray real world conflicts has been scrapped in favor of developing a fictional setting inspired by real events. An open beta was announced to take place on the 7th of December 2018, preceding the official planned release date of December 12th.
