Overview
Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 is a 2.5D sci-fi fantasy fighting game developed by Arc System Works and released by Sega for arcades (using their PC-based RingEdge 2 hardware via the ALL.Net P-ras MULTI Version 2 digital service) exclusively in Japan on March 30, 2017.
An enhanced revision of the Guilty Gear (Franchise) series' seventh installment, including two new playable characters, some balance changes, new camera effects, and additional epilogue chapters for Story Mode.
This revision was later digitally released as a paid DLC patch for Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-, with the PlayStation 4 (Platform) and PlayStation 3 (Platform) versions released on May 25, 2017 and the PC (Platform) version released on June 1, 2017. It was also released separately for the PlayStation 4 at the same time as the patch, both as a digital and a physical release. The separate version was released by Arc System Works in Japan, by Aksys Games (Company) in North America, and by PQube (Company) in Europe.
Characters
The game includes 25 playable characters, two of which are new to this revision.
The console "Upgrade" version of the game has two of these characters (Dizzy and Kum) locked from the start until their characters' respective Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- DLC are purchased.
Additional character color palettes were made available as DLC in the Console versions.
New Additions
- Answer (Character) - A business-suit clad ninja and the personal secretary of Chipp Zanuff (Character), who fights with a variety of ninjutsu techniques (including throwing business cards). His unique mechanic is his "Request for Approval" technique, which summons a scroll in one of four positions and can be followed-up with a teleported attack.
- Baiken (Character) - A wandering one-eyed one-armed Japanese samurai who is summoned to investigate Illyrian presence in the Japanese Colony. Along with a katana, she has a variety of hidden weapons. Her unique mechanics are her "Azami", a guard-cancel technique that can be followed-up to one of numerous attacks, and the "Suzuran", a command dash that guards. Returns from Guilty Gear XX Accent Core.
