Overview

Simple 2000 Series Vol. 68: The Tousou Highway - Nagoya-Tokyo is an action-driving game developed by Tamsoft and published by D3 Publisher for the PlayStation 2 (Platform) in Japan on December 9, 2004. It later received a European release by 505 GameStreet on February 2006 as Car Racing Challenge.

Part of the Simple (Franchise) series of budget games, The Tousou Highway has players racing against the clock as hard-boiled detective Genkuro Okawara ("Oogawara Genkurou" in the English translation), who must drive down the Tomei Expressway from Nagoya (Location) to Tokyo (Location) in order to clear the name of a Parliament member framed by a corrupt politician.

While meeting the real-time four-hour deadline, Genkuro must contend with not only traffic, but highway police (as he is deemed a fugitive due to the politician's influence) and the politician's henchmen (as they ransacked evidence from his office). Similar to the Grand Theft Auto (Franchise) series, Genkuro must often abandon his current vehicle due to damage, and run around on-foot to commandeer another vehicle to proceed. The game has six "stages", each of which have unique challenges (such as heavy fog, rainstorms, and large police checkpoints).

It is one of a few examples of an overseas budget game release having cover art that is deceptively unrelated to the game, showing what appears to be a standard touge car racing game.

The game later received an updated, downloadable, handheld port for the PlayStation Vita (Platform) on April 30, 2014 with @Simple V Series Vol. 2: The Tousou Highway Fullboost - Nagoya-Tokyo Gekisou 4-Jikan. It also received a post-apocalyptic themed sequel, known as Simple 2000 Series Vol. 112: The Tousou Highway 2 - Road Warrior 2050.
