Blood Gulch
LOCATION
Easily the most famous multiplayer map in the Halo Franchise. It consists of a large canyon with two bases at either end.

Overview

At either ends of Blood Gulch are the identical team bases with a number of vehicles parked behind them. The center of the map is filled with a large expanse of hilly terrain and there are smaller passages and vantage points in the cliffs to either side of the map, usually used by players for sniping. Blood Gulch first appeared in Halo: Combat Evolved and is often considered the favourite map of Halo (Franchise) fans, particularly for capture the flag games. When the game was ported from the Xbox (Platform) to the PC (Platform) and Mac (Platform), Blood Gulch was notable for featuring the two weapons and two vehicles new to the ported version. Due to its popularity, it was remade under its original name as a real-time strategy map in Halo Wars (Game) , and remade as Coagulation (Location) in Halo 2. Halo: Reach also featured an official variant of the map Forge World (Location) called "Haemorrhage" which is a remake of Blood Gulch, and the Halo 3 map Valhalla is considered a "spiritual successor" to Blood Gulch as well.   Blood Gulch's popularity was caused by it being the main setting for Halo machinima Red vs. Blue, which depicted the story of two incompetent teams of Spartans continually fighting for control of a worthless box canyon. Red vs. Blue holds the Guinness World Record for world's most popular machinima, and Blood Gulch's appearance in it only further helped heighten the status of the map.
