I support the site with my money, because I enjoy what they do. If I stop enjoying it, then I’ll stop paying. I don’t need to hypothesize what the site will look like two years from now. I like these guys, support these guys, and hope they do well. Hopefully Red Ventures doesn’t mess with the recipe, but if they do fingers crossed it isn’t in an obnoxious way.

Tie one end of a rope around Zelda’s waste, then the other end around your wrist. It’s not that hard to do. Brother was just making rocket ships out of some rusty shields, and can’t keep Zelda from getting sucked back into the abyss?

Come on Nintendo, women love this franchise. Time to stop pretending women aren’t capable of more than crying, or mentally explaining the plot while trapped by evil. Can’t wait for them to explain how Link has more memories to collect, so that they can make some sweet new armors for Hyrule Warriors 2… don’t expect them to be part of the current season pass.

All of the people playing Persona games, are more than likely going to play a new Final Fantasy. But a lot of the people playing the new Final Fantasy game, don’t know what Persona is.

Persona is still a niche series. If you like JRPGs, then you’re probably into Persona, but if you hate high school dramas then you probably won’t dig Persona. Where as Final Fantasy is a gaming staple. Even when it’s bad, or fans don’t dig the themes of a specific one of those, they still play it.

I know a guy that loved Persona 4, but hated 5, and is now on a wait for reviews of 6 policy. He gets every Final Fantasy, and I don’t think he’s liked a single one since 9. Now this is just conjecture on my part, but I don’t think Persona will ever reach Final Fantasy’s level of fandom. Not to say one is better than the other, just that there’s a legacy associated with one that will always make it people’s go to JRPG.

@lapsariangiraff: I mean, I wasn’t under the impression that what the OP was talking about was relegated to just the Giant Bomb forum. I’m also not going to defend someone I don’t know, and I don’t agree with some of the things the OP is saying. Just trying to add some context.

When I read the initial post, I wanted to share my feelings on it.

@lapsariangiraff: You misunderstood some of what I’m saying. Some of the places where I see people talking about this stuff are Reddit, IGN forums, Twitter, and Gamespot forums. There’s a bias, or maybe bias is too strong a word, the usual rhetoric I see is against Microsoft regardless of what they’re doing. Some of it is no doubt old “Console Wars” hang ups, and some of it probably lingering irritations from how the Xbox used to be run. Either way there’s a lot of it, and I think that’s where the person that started this thread is coming from.

Regardless to whether Phil Spencer has been open about how he wants to do things, people are attacking the brand for not having console exclusives. So with that in mind, this just seems like them being aggressive. I don’t think it’s great, but I understand being annoyed with the double standard.

As far as them taking existing multi platform games, and making them exclusive. Well that isn’t new to video games. Sony took the seventh Final Fantasy game away from Nintendo, Street Fighter from Microsoft, and I’m sure there are other examples.

The thing that bugs me about this situation is, that had Sony purchased Bethesda, then no one would question whether or not everything would be exclusive. The people complaining about Microsoft possibly keeping the next Elder Scrolls game from a PS5, would be over the moon if the situation was reversed. What’s worst is that Sony would have been slow to put Bethesda games on PC, if they even would at all. At least with Microsoft, you know for sure the games will release on PC the same day as the XBox, where as Sony would probably make you wait a year.

Exclusivity, is a stupid practice. People should be able play what they want, where ever they want. But why should Microsoft be held at a higher standard than Sony? I was just on Twitter checking for a Series X/PS5 restock (I want both, and am having a bitch of a time), and everything PS5 related is filled with people clamoring for one, but the XBox messages are filled with people saying “Get a PC instead, fuck Microsoft” or “Why do people want an XBox, when it has no games?”. It’s so fucking weird.

Biases are stupid, and people shouldn’t be beholden to corporations, but I do get irritated (stupidly) seeing Microsoft get dunked on repeatedly, when I feel like they have been for more consumer friendly for a while now.

Interesting read, but I have always disliked Tingle just because I think he’s annoying. The character also breaks the immersion, because he’s the jokey man baby nerd character that exist in a lot of Japanese games/anime. He’s an “Otaku” for fairies, and I have never enjoyed the humor associated the archetype.

Of the Legend of Zelda side characters to get screen time, I think it sucks that we’ll see him in more shit than someone like Linkle, Midna, or Sarah. You know the ladies, that Nintendo doesn’t want representing their major franchises.

All I wanted them to do was put the “default” femshep in the first two games, and put controller support in the PC versions. Everything else they put in is just extra whipped cream.

This is my favorite series, and just putting everything in a neat package makes me happy. I feel like everyone wanted a remake, but I don’t. I love this series as is, and bringing new voice actors in, or redesigning everything whole hog, could be potentially awful. So a quick sprucing up, that makes it so I don’t have to mod everything to make it more enjoyable, is all I need.

It would have been great if they added some cut content, but the head guy of this thing made it seem like they had a specific time frame and budget. So they focused on what he thought was most important, and wanted to retain as much as possible the feeling of these games. The head dude seems like he’s doing a good job at mitigating expectations. These are prettier, hopefully better handling, and better running versions of games people love. Not having Pinnacle Station is a bummer, but only because of the apartment that made it easier to get the best armors. The actual station was kind of boring, I thought. Losing the multiplayer for three sucks, but it was always a novelty... albeit a novelty that was far better than anyone expected.

As far as charging 60 bucks, well I mean there’s a lot here, and they didn’t just pull a Mario 3D Allstars. Looking at the screenshots and videos, they put in some work. Also, I haven’t done the math, but if you’re buying all three of these games plus DLC (minus Pinnacle Station), wouldn’t you be spending over 60 dollars?

I don’t know, man. I’m pretty stoked about this thing, and I expected far less than what they’re now presenting. I really enjoy this series, and I’m super jazzed to play it all over again.

Dragon’s Dogma 2. I really hope it’s real, and that they do something interesting with it. Like, I hope it goes full tilt crazy.

If they can figure out a way to add slow walking and talking to their car combat game, then sure.

All kidding aside. I don’t think it’s completely off the table, but I don’t know who would make it, or if they would get the mood right. Honestly I don’t think any series is dead, just dormant.
