This is harmless, and I see no negatives. Plus they look good. So right on.

So is Kratos going to become the villain at the end, and in the sequel you play his son on a mission to kill him? Thus creating a never ending cycle of patricide. Or is it just "We ran out of Greek gods for Kratos to kill, so here's some other gods for him to murder. Oh, and we brought a kid along for some emotional manipulation"?

@zaldar: Not to be a dick, but I'm a thirty five year old millennial, and I'm sure we agree on a lot of things. Also the generalization of "millennials", is just as ridiculous and curmudgeonly, as the generalization that the baby boomers have for genXers.

To get back on topic. I completely agree with Brad and Jeff about spheres in games. I spend a lot of time in games like Horizon, just in awe of how things look now in comparison to before.

This looks cool, and I hope they bring in higher grade hand held stuff. I would love to have a better looking Fire Emblem and Monster Hunter.

Also anyone born in 1982 to 2004, are millennials. Just in case some of my fellow 34 year old are using the term, without realizing.

@nasar7: right on. I remember Dreamcast magazine being hot for it, but I never trusted the official magazine's reviews of first party games. When Shenmue was first announced, it sounded amazing, but I stopped playing a little bit after the first QTE. Went right back to playing Maken X. Now that was a fucking video game!

I actually remember people disliking Shenmue when it came out because of the waiting. If I'm not mistaken most thought it was an interesting idea, but dull. So saying people were impressed back in the day seems wrong to me. I always thought Shenmue was a niche thing, that most people thought was just alright. I may be misremembering, but I remember it having review scores around 7s and 8s. I could be wrong.

I love this because we are watching Vinny play Shenmue. He's just playing as it presents itself to him. No guides, no help from chat, just playing the game as if it just came out.

I would understand people being frustrated if this was a walkthrough, or him playing with a FAQ. I even understand being frustrated, because you feel like he's misrepresenting the game you love. But come on, this game is obtuse as hell. Take the Nozomi thing. He has talked to her several times, and it's clear to him that he's missing something, but in no way does it tell him to try calling her. All it has to do is have some dialog, where she tells him "Yo dog, maybe you should call me sometime", just to present him with that option. Of coarse he's going to think calling people is plot specific, because the only time the phone has come up was plot related.

I played Shenmue when it came out, and immediately stopped when I got frustrated with the waiting. This game is not for everyone, and that's alright. It's fine at what it does, but suffers for it too. I do not think Shenmue is a good game, but can see what people get from it, and respect it for what it was.

@eazeapeazea: I love the corrections segment! It's one of the few ways the Beastcast differentiates itself from the Bombcast, and sometimes it brings in a great conversation.

I told myself at the end of chapter 3, that if it came down to it I would let the town burn for Chloe. Had no reason to argue myself out of it, and I liked all of the characters. It just came down to not wanting to be one more person leaving her behind.

I never focus on time travel, in stories that have time travel. It is never satisfying, and is either over explained or left vague. Best to just accept what the story reveals, and try not to let it set you down the path of a brain aneurism.

Alexander Grahm Bell was a patent thief, and Charles Dickons was a horrible person... That is all.
