I flip flop. I used to bring it on all my commutes, but now that I have a car and a job a couple of minutes away, there's no need. I'll still bring it to work for dinner breaks from time to time. And there are plenty of times I'll play handheld even though I'm at home because I'd rather play in bed than sit in front of the TV.

I always go off of what I would do in the character's shoes. I find it makes things much more interesting and affecting for me.

I haven't watched it, but as a big fan of how Eva originally ended (End of Evangelion), I'm more than a bit peeved to hear that Shinji is allowed to just wish up a happy ending for everyone.

One of my favorite parts of End is the fact that even after his self-discovery, he isn't absolved of the consequences of his actions. No, you're not forgiven for killing everyone just because you felt bad about it afterwards. Take some responsibility for your actions and work to improve yourself, even though it's hard. It's a raw and powerful message and one I think more people need to hear than "Believe in yourself and everything will be fine!" Hearing that this movie ultimately backpedals on it makes me dread getting to it, even if my curosity will probably win out.

@cornfed40: @elby: Thanks for the advice, guys. Maybe I'll put down a pre-order for the lowest price. Can't see myself spending more than PS5 money on this, too rich for my blood.

Though now I'm hearing that the lowest model may not even be worth it. Something about the internal storage being too slow to run big games, even with an SD card helping it?

@cornfed40: They do say that there will be a general sale though, and they'll let you know when it's available normally if you put it on your wishlist. Is Valve known for having supply problems? I've never bought any of their tech before.

I was this close, had it in my cart and everything, but once I calmed down and thought about it rationally, I decided against it. Pre-ordering proves to be more of a fool's errand than not these days, and with this being new tech and all, I really need to see what people think and how useful it will actually be before plopping down cash on it.

It'll be there if I decide I want it. I highly doubt this thing is gonna be flying off shelves.

I'm super tempted to pick this up because there are so many AAA and lower games I didn't get to play that I don't have the console for and can't run on my old Mac. Plus the 3DS and Switch have reaffirmed my absolute love for handheld gaming. The ability to wake up in the morning and run through some Mario 3D World without going downstairs and plugging in the dock is heaven.

But on the other hand, my biggest problem with PC gaming is fussing with everything to make sure it works, and I'm already hearing some games won't work right out of the box. Plus my backlog is so large and will only get larger when my brother decides to upgrade to the PS5 and gives me his PS4. I'm not sure I can justify picking up another console right now, especially with no steady job at the moment.

Juggling two games right now: Super Mario 3D World on my Switch and Dragon Quest 8 on my phone of all places.

Mario is great as always, having a great time running through as Luigi while collecting absolutely everything! Looking forward to playing co-op with the gf later as well. The game is gorgeous too. It even looks good in handheld!

Dragon Quest 8 is my first Dragon Quest ever and honestly I'm liking the groove I've fallen into with it. Never thought I'd play a console game on my phone, but it's great for grinding sessions when I just wanna kill some time. And while the story isn't anything amazing, it's pretty dang cozy and easy to drop in and out of, like a nice little anime that you catch up with every now and then. And the combat still has enough depth for me to specialize the characters the way I want to.

I can totally see why the Japanese consider the series comfort food. If I keep enjoying it this much, I could see myself picking up another one on my phone. There's plenty to choose from apparently!

@gundato: I didn't say nobody cares. I said the VAST MAJORITY do not care. Speaking of people thinking everything is a YouTube comment, do you honestly believe Mom buying her teen GTA 6 is pulling out her phone and going "Wow, only 25 fps? Let me go pick out something different." Because if you do, then I'm not the one in a weird bubble here.

It's not me saying nobody SHOULD care, just that most people DO NOT. It's a fact, plain and simple. Your own personal preferences do not translate to everyone else.

@gundato: Next big thing, remember? If anything, that just proves my point. They're not doing it because "Wow, 60 fps is an innovation I just can't live without!" They're doing it because it's the biggest, fanciest box in the Xbox ecosystem right now. Not to mention that PS5 is absolutely killing both because that's the box that people recognize as having the better experiences, despite Series X being more powerful.

Seriously, I'm confused on how you can even argue this when the history and current trends of this industry have proved you wrong at every turn.
