They'll bring themes back eventually. It's too low hanging of a fruit for pre-order bonuses not to have it eventually. It's just also not very highly ranked on a "this must be here for launch" list of product features that I'm sure they were scrambling through.

@guns_n_rosaries: Tensions are high all over american discourse right now. Which is to be expected considering what we just saw happen between extremists and our government. Not trying to excuse the name calling you received as I fully believe that everyone should take a deep breath before engaging with that level of intensity to a stranger on the internet.

But this is definitely a tread lightly with your words kinda situation. I don't believe you meant the worst with your comment but try to at least understand why comparing people pleading for civil rights is different to a political base of extremists trying to cling onto power with intimidation and violence after losing a democratic election and is inappropriate to imply that they are just two groups trading blows. The two shouldn't be treated as if they're on the same ground. It's insulting to the lives of the people lost last year in those events and the lives of the people who are still out there trying to just be treated fairly.

@guns_n_rosaries: Just pointing out how silly it is to look at a group of people invading the capital and thinking the takeaway comment from that is "well the guys they don't like rioted so of course this was going to happen".

But yeah, your comment implied you think a group with molotovs, guns, zip ties, and explosives who stormed the capital after attending a "stop the steal" rally held by the president to prevent that presidents loss being confirmed by congress is just another riot to counter what we saw last summer. I'm not really sure what more to say than that because it pretty much spells itself out. Maybe you didn't fully intend that, but taking the "both sides do wrong" stance is really rough on this one. Just going to disagree and walkaway from that "riots" whataboutism at this point.

@guns_n_rosaries: Care to source the incident you're claiming happened where the left invaded capital hill and attacked an in session congress to get what they want?

Are you really comparing people protesting the long running treatment and deaths of minorities to people trying to halt a lawful American election that amounted to this violence because the loser wouldn't concede defeat without claiming fraud that has been regularly disproven and shut down since he started making those claims prior to the election itself? Cause it sounds like you are.

Still utterly baffled that you can join in an insurrection attempt and walk away a few hours later with nothing but a few memories, a participation trophy photograph or two, and a pat on the back tweet by the president.

This in contrast to how BLM protestors were treated boils my blood more than anything else this last year to be honest.

Apparently you can invade capital hill, hold the building, trash it, place bombs, cause the evacuation of congress and halt the election process from being completed and be met with a "Go on home, you rascals, before you hurt yourselves or the police, but remember I love you guys. Oh and it's all a fraud being stolen from me" by the guy in charge.

I'm going to have to just tune out for a bit. The ridiculousness of this is too much for me to handle right now.

Animal Crossing. My wife and I hopped on for the new years event to see what it was at midnight. Have to say, it was charming and felt like just what we needed in a way that animal crossing has provided a lot this year. We debated between doing that or watching the ball drop and we're glad we picked animal crossing.

My kind of cheating answer if I don't count those couple minutes at midnight though would be FFXII the zodiac age. Felt like running through it again and it still holds up well. Makes me sad that FF hasn't returned to ivalice as a setting for one of it's major launches again since then. I like the political storytelling of XII quite a lot.

I was looking at Borderlands 1 around release time and stumbled across the quick look. Thought the guys were really funny and informative so I started exploring the site more. Not sure what hooked me but I just started coming back constantly like a stray cat they had fed or something. Glad I did though.

Based on my experiences working analysis roles for dev teams in other industries, no, I don't think so. A lot of the issues with this game sounds like leadership issues. That doesn't go away by giving the team another year. That's just another year for those same bad leaders to keep pushing the same mistakes. Plus you also have to factor in the chance that they wouldn't just let up on working the devs hard. An extra year of work doesn't mean much when you're burnt out and can't output your best work.

If they had an extra year I'd bet we'd see another host of marketing hype features creep into scope and a lot of mismanagement continue. It's not like they're suddenly going to correct the ship and fix everything that was going wrong for the last half a decade with one extra year. Bugs and glitchiness would be better, but actual features and content being improved seems incredibly unlikely to me.

@bigsocrates: They're not totally out yet. If you told me tomorrow that they announced a switch port of Xenoblade Chronicles X or Windwaker HD I would not be surprised at all. They're thin on games to port from Wii U but there are a couple that people would still be happy to see.
