Games That I've Completed

Posting a game on this list doesn't mean that I've unlocked 100% of it, it just means that I have at least completed the Story portion of the game, or whatever the main focus of the game is.

SCORES:

10/10 - Nothing is perfect, but a 10 is pretty much something that excels at everything that it does and is highly enjoyable. A 10 is a rarity. Easy contender for one of the best games of all time.

9/10 - While it has a few minor flaws that prevent it from being a 10, it still excels at everything it does. Contender for one of the best games of all time.

8/10 - While it might have a lot of minor flaws, or even one big flaw, it's still a great game and is worth checking out. Possibly one of the best games of all time, or at least a "Game of the Year" contender.

7/10 - Still a decent experience, even if it's not amazing by any stretch. Still worth checking out.

6/10 - An above average game. Can still be enjoyable under the right circumstances, such as being cheap/free, or appealing to a certain demographic.

5/10 - Distinctly average. Nothing really good about, but nothing really terrible either. Basically the most boring types of games. This is where I stop being able to recommend a game.

4/10 - A below average game. This is where a games problems start to overshadow the game. Whether it be technical problems, or the simple fact that the game is either unpolished, lacks features, or can't overcome just how boring or unappealing it is.

3/10 - A 3 out of 10 might have some good ideas or features, but is a buggy and/or half finished mess. Possible contender for one of the worst games of all time, or at least worst game of the year of release.

2/10 - It might have a few minor good things about it, but the whole thing is still a complete disaster. Easy contender for one of the worst video games of all time.

1/10 - Literally unplayable. Buggy game, broken mechanics, ugly graphics, annoying sound, poorly written story, bad multiplayer. Easy contender for one of the worst video games of all time, period.

GUILTY PLEASURE - A game that has many flaws or is unappealing to the majority of people, but can be enjoyed regardless.

NOTE: 8's, 9's, and 10's are games worth playing immediately. 6's and 7's are worth playing on a sale, or are already cheap.

Anything below a 6/10, I recommend avoiding.

I try to avoid using decimals as much I can, but I do use them once in a blue moon.

List items

  • Infliction: Extended Cut - 4/10

Another P.T. clone. On the upside, it does come with unlockable behind the scenes stuff like concept art and videos of unused concepts, which is a rarity in games and needs to be implemented more often.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 1/11/2020

  • 7/10

Decent short game with some neat visual tricks.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 2/11/2020

  • 7/10

The puzzles designed around perspective were great, and I would have loved to see the game explore it's concepts more, but I would rather a game not overstay it's welcome.

It also comes with unlockable challenge rooms, audio commentary, and a workshop for new user created levels, giving it some replayablility.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 7/11/2020

  • 8/10

Solid plot, acting, art, and music.

    Highly recommendable.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 16/11/2020

  • 7/10

This game is not for everyone. It's slow, atmospheric, and depressing, and it's story is weird and doesn't quite make 100% sense, and I'm not sure if it's the English translation or it's because the game is just that off kilter. It's English voice acting is hilariously bad and cheesy and or some reason goes in between English and Russian for the whole game.

But somehow the how game comes together to be and enjoyable experience. I didn't mind any problems that the game had.

  • 7/10

A simple fun arcade game. Doesn't need to be anything more complicated than that.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 25/11/2020

  • 7/10

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 26/11/2020

  • This is part of the universe of the 'Gemini Home Entertainment' Youtube channel, so you have to watch that before playing this.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 03/12/2020

  • 7/10

In order to complete the game, you have to go through these "nodes", and each node contains several levels in a row that give you the choice of two random power-ups after two or three levels. If you die at any point, you have to play through the node again, and lose all of your powers, which becomes incredibly tedious if you are having a bad run. It just brings down the whole pace of the game.

Especially if you're trying to unlock some of the power ups, since they require completing 100% of the game. And if you keep trying to unlock the power ups, that can make the game take even longer. And it doesn't help that the levels and power ups are chosen at random, meaning that sometimes the game can be against you.

If you like SUPERHOT, you're going to like this, even if it's a lukewarm recommendation from me.

FUN FACT: The original ending had the player wait 8 real world hours before they could play the game again, but was changed to 2 and a half hours because of a backlash. It was originally going to be 24, but even the developers realized that even that was too long.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 04/12/2020

  • 4/10

One of the worst racing games that I've played. I know that it's a children's game but it came out 4 years after the movie so it's not like it had to be rushed out for the movie's release date, and it's such a basic concept for a game that I don't know how you make it this bad.

  • 7/10

    A relatively solid Portal-clone.

    My Full Review - https://cultclassiccornervideogames.wordpress.com/2021/03/14/relicta-2020-pc-ps4-xbone-stadia-review/

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 30/12/2020

  • I'm counting "TNT: Evilution" and "The Plutonia Experiment" as separate games since they're advertised that way.

Final Doom isn't meant for the casual Doom player, it's meant for the (at the time) most hardcore Doom players who thought that the first two games weren't hard enough, even on the Nightmare difficulty.

Both games employ new tricks that would be used for years to come in the modding scene, such as having some lava textures not hurt you and vice versa water textures hurt you, and you have to retrain your brain to get used to it.

    TNT: Evilution - COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 01/02/2020

    PC: 7/10

    DIFFICULTY: "Hurt Me Plenty!"

    The Plutonia Experiment - COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 06/03/2021)

    PC: 7/10

    DIFFICULTY: "Hurt Me Plenty!"

The secret level "Go 2 It." basically introduced the concept of a 'Slaughtermap', a genre of Doom maps know for having absurd amounts of enemies and being both incredibly difficult and time consuming.

It has over 200 enemies, including 19 Arch-Viles and 13 god damned Cyberdemons, and at a point you have to fight up to 4 of them at once. There are more Cyberdemons in this one map than there are across both Ultimate Doom and Doom II combined.

But it is well designed by someone who knows how Doom works in and out and knows how to use the enemies well.

  • 8/10

I'm just sad that I didn't get to try the DLC when it was still up on the 360 storefront.

    DIFFICULTY: Easy

  • Xbox - 5/10

For an Xbox game, this is incredibly short. I know it's a port of an arcade game, so I'm not expecting something lengthy, but it's missing some content from the Arcade version along with the Dreamcast version, like cutscenes.

'Arcade Mode' has you completing a series of races in 4 difficulties, each with their own unique difficulties. 'Head-to-Head' is a 2 player mode. 'Survival Mode' which is like 'Arcade Mode', but your car shuts down with too much car damage instead of just slowing down. So there is some re-playability and added enjoyment if you have a friend or couple of friends.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 23/02/2020

  • 8/10

It still has some of those Sierra puzzles where you can screw yourself over (but not bad enough that you don't know what you did wrong) and a 'Dumb Cursor' (a cursor where you have to pick the cursor you want instead of the game picking the right one for you) that doesn't work well with the sections where you have to do some quick thinking.

Still a fantastic point-and-click adventure game and is worth playing.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 28/02/2021

  • 8/10

The start of the Call of the Duty franchise, either a good or bad thing depending on who you ask. Still a stolid and fantastic game, even it's from a completely different era of video games.

  • It's a short (less than 5 minutes) promotional game for Bulletstorm, there's not much I can say about it. It was only mildly funny even at the time.

The video "If Doom was done today (Part 1)" came out around the same time.

  • 8/10

One of the better FMV games. The acting is still incredibly cheesy, and it still has a few of the Sierra puzzles, but it is a classic point-and-click adventure game.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 08/03/2021

  • 7.5/10

Terminator: Resistance is pretty much what I wanted from a piece of Terminator media. Trying to survive in the future war of the first two Terminator films by looking for supplies and killing terminators, all while it had the great look that those first two films had for the future war.

And who would have thought that the team behind the infamously bad Rambo game for the PS3 and 360 would have made one of the better Terminator games.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 19/03/2021

    Terminator: Annihilation Line - 7/10

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 26/12/2021

  • 7/10

    WARNING: Might cause seizures.

It's an "homage (see: clone) of SkyRoads. Still a pretty neat little time waster.

    https://cultclassiccornervideogames.wordpress.com/2018/12/07/skyroads-1993-ms-dos-review/

  • It's a tech demo for new graphical features for the source engine, what would I even rate it? But it's still a fun time for fans of the Half-Life series, even if it's just to show of the shiny new graphical features.

  • 8/10

Wasted many hours trying to kill people by firing toilets at them with the Gravity Gun.

  • 7/10

I don't know how to explain this game and the feelings that it gave me, but it sure is a good mix of creepy and disgusting.

  • 3/10

The art is annoying and could give you a migraine, the controls are too sluggish and the camera is too close to the character half the time, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason on how something gets graded.

  • 5/10

If Falling Down was told in an over-the-top comical way.

If anything, this made me feel more stressed. It's about half an hour long and it's pretty much you swinging your Wiimote the entire time. The controls work fairly well, but they're not trying to be accurate, instead just using a simple motion for if you want to swing whatever weapon you've got.

To move around, instead of moving your character like a normal first person game, you move to a highlighted spot on the game. This also removes any awkward movement controls that the Wiimote might not handle, and is a good way to get around a small team not being able to properly use the controls to move the character.

There is some mild replayability, but to only top your own score, the comedy is mildly amusing, and you might get a small work out from this game.

  • PC: 8/10

    DIFFICULTY: Medium

I know that a lot of people who liked the original Quake didn't like this, and I can understand some peoples frustrations since anyone who was expecting more of the first had the rug pulled out from under them.

Instead of having the levels just appear one after another in seemingly random order and in ever increasing difficulty like the first one, Quake II instead goes with having the levels designed to be interconnected with each other, making it seem like actual progress is being made, and the game even let's the player backtrack. This works against the game slightly is the player gets lost or confused with the layout of the levels.

I still like the aesthetic and atmosphere that Quake II is going for, even if I prefer the creepiness of the first one a bit more.

Sometimes an enemy can go into a death animation, which can also sometimes lead to the enemy firing off one last shot to injure or even kill you, and the only way to stop this is to take another shot at them and make them explode into gibs. Sometimes they caught me off guard, but not for them taking one last shot at me, but because you can't move past them when they're going through the animation, leading to quite a few times when I tried to get passed an enemy who was dying, only to get stuck in a small hallway and have another enemy be able to take a shot and injure or even kill me. I did get used to it to some extent though.

Although, this game marks when ID Software started prioritizing making tech demos over just trying to make the game good, and that's because a lot of the creatives were leaving or had left at this point. Not to say that Quake II is bad by any means, it's still good, but you can tell that there was a change in the wind.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 23/06/2021

  • 8/10

    DIFFICULTY: Normal

The visuals when you enter someones memories, with all of the visual and auditory corruptions and artifacts, and interesting to look at.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 03/07/2021

  • PC: 8/10

    DIFFICULTY: Medium

A lot of the same complaints that I had with the original Quake II I also had with The Reckoning.

But this time around the development team made the game harder because they knew that the only people who would buy an expansion pack to Quake II were people who who had played enough Quake II to want to buy an expansion pack.

It's more Quake II, which isn't a bad thing.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 04/07/2021

  • 7/10

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 09/07/2021

  • 8/10

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 13/07/2021

  • 7/10

    DIFFICULTY: Medium

Ground Zero is the hardest game out of Quake II and it's too expansion packs, and where I thought that Quake II and The Reckoning were fair but difficult in a lot of places, Ground Zero just feels like a slog and overly difficult. If I had to compare it to something, it's like what Final Doom is to Ultimate Doom and Doom II.

You have to save before every room because of the newly introduced enemy "The Turret", which comes in two flavors, the regular Laser Turret and the Rocket Turret. They can wipe out large amounts of your health and they're placed where they can take you by surprise the first time playing. They're like the Spawns from the original Quake, and I think that the game would be better without them.

The game also comes with an enemy that can spawn other enemies, it didn't need turrets that can take you by surprise and take significant damage to your health and even kill you out of nowhere.

The one thing that I did like about Ground Zero is that there is an optional stealth mission (in the loosest sense of the term) that you can completely miss, where you dress like a Strogg and they don't kill you.

The rest of the game is more Quake II, which I'm not against even if it's overly difficult.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 16/07/2021

  • XBOX - 8/10

There are times where the AI can mess up on a spectacular level and can cause a crash that sends the car fling, sending paint and sparks all over the place as it does flips in the air, and it's awesome to watch as you drive your car under it as flips and flies over you. There's nothing more satisfying than watching a crash into a barrier and do flips head over ass into a giant gorge.

The original XBOX version also contains more content than the PS2 and GCN versions, so if you're going to get any version of the game, get the XBOX version.

It does get a little tedious if you're trying to unlock everything and you mess up in one of the races in a Grand Prix and have to play through several tracks over and over again. I just turned my console off and on again just before game saved.

The driving can feel great at times, and drifting around a corner while using the turbo all while dodging traffic feels fantastic.

The games humor can get a little grating after awhile and it's gameplay loop is a little simple and repetitive, but it's a relatively short game so it doesn't drag on for too long. The graphics are also pretty nice, and are colorful and vibrant.

  • I miss vanilla Team Fortress 2. I also miss when a game from 2007 could run on my computer because it didn't have 15 years of unoptimized updates.

  • It's a tech demo, what would I even rate it?

  • 7.5/10

This is a unique little gem of a game and I wish it wasn't stuck on the Wii.

  • It's a tech demo, it can't really give it a rating.

There's only a minutes worth of gameplay in a 7 and a half minute showcase before it just dumps you a city to run, drive, or fly around that was only made to show off what the Unreal 4 Engine is capable of. It's for either hardcore Matrix fans of fans of what new graphics engines are capable of.

Basically, if you've ever seen the highway scene from The Matrix Reloaded and went "That looks like the coolest shit ever!", then this is for you.

  • RATING: 7/10

The art style is good and the whole concept for the game is interesting.

But being stuck in one location doing the same task over and over again can get a bit repetitive.

  • 5.5/10

Has a nice concept and has a pleasant presentation, but needs some polish to make it run smoother and fix a few graphical issues.

I went into this game as a joke and I ended up liking this a lot.

This seems like one of those joke simulator games that would be complete trash, but the developers put effort into it and it's actually a decent simulator, even if it's about something a bit sillier than farming or truck driving.

Plus the developers have continually updated it by patching bugs and adding content.
