Games That I've Completed

Posting a game on this list doesn't mean that I've unlocked 100% of it, it just means that I have at least completed the Story portion of the game, or whatever the main focus of the game is.

SCORES:

10/10 - Nothing is perfect, but a 10 is pretty much something that excels at everything that it does and is highly enjoyable. A 10 is a rarity. Easy contender for one of the best games of all time.

9/10 - While it has a few minor flaws that prevent it from being a 10, it still excels at everything it does. Contender for one of the best games of all time.

8/10 - While it might have a lot of minor flaws, or even one big flaw, it's still a great game and is worth checking out. Possibly one of the best games of all time, or at least a "Game of the Year" contender.

7/10 - Still a decent experience, even if it's not amazing by any stretch. Still worth checking out.

6/10 - An above average game. Can still be enjoyable under the right circumstances, such as being cheap/free, or appealing to a certain demographic.

5/10 - Distinctly average. Nothing really good about, but nothing really terrible either. Basically the most boring types of games. This is where I stop being able to recommend a game.

4/10 - A below average game. This is where a games problems start to overshadow the game. Whether it be technical problems, or the simple fact that the game is either unpolished, lacks features, or can't overcome just how boring or unappealing it is.

3/10 - A 3 out of 10 might have some good ideas or features, but is a buggy and/or half finished mess. Possible contender for one of the worst games of all time, or at least worst game of the year of release.

2/10 - It might have a few minor good things about it, but the whole thing is still a complete disaster. Easy contender for one of the worst video games of all time.

1/10 - Literally unplayable. Buggy game, broken mechanics, ugly graphics, annoying sound, poorly written story, bad multiplayer. Easy contender for one of the worst video games of all time, period.

GUILTY PLEASURE - A game that has many flaws or is unappealing to the majority of people, but can be enjoyed regardless.

NOTE: 8's, 9's, and 10's are games worth playing immediately. 6's and 7's are worth playing on a sale, or are already cheap.

Anything below a 6/10, I recommend avoiding.

I try to avoid using decimals as much I can, but I do use them once in a blue moon.

List items

  • 10/10

Favourite versions: Original GameBoy version and the SNES version with Dr. Mario on the same cart.

I know this game can't be completed since there is nothing to complete, but it's taken up literally hundreds of hours of my life, and for that, I'm putting it here on this list. I don't care, complaining about it isn't going to make me take it off of this list.

Also, it's a perfect game. Prove me wrong.

  • PS2 - 7/10

    XBOX - 7/10

If the controls were a bit smoother, this would be an 8/10. The first Halo came out 4 years before this, and had much smoother controls.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 25/03/2019

  • 7/10

The AI is bizarrely difficult and unbalanced in places with one random thug flailing his handgun being able to take out a squad of 5 highly trained SWAT members. Plus it doesn't help that the weapons aren't as accurate as they should be. If those two things were fixed, this could easily be a 9/10

And it gets worse if you're on a level that has a timer. You can get injured and if your leg gets injured, you might as well restart the timed levels. It even makes the regular levels take twice as long, especially if you missed something.

    My Full Review - https://cultclassiccornervideogames.wordpress.com/2019/04/22/swat-4-2005-game-review/

    SWAT: Elite Force (Mod): 8.5

The Elite Force mod not only makes the game more balance, and much more enjoyable, but adds more content and graphically improves the game. It makes the game a much more enjoyable experience. It's something that I recommend to install for all people who want to play SWAT 4. It does require the expansion, "Stetchkov Syndicate", to play.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 19/04/2019

  • 7/10

Like the base game, if this didn't have a bullshit difficulty, it would be much better. It's a 7 because it's just a small expansion pack with a few new levels. This would be an 8/10 if the A.I. wasn't so bullshit.

  • 4/10

The story was confusing and all over the place, and it felt pretentious all the way through. The presentation is a bit of a mixed bag, and the whole game just felt so low energy that it constantly felt like I was going to fall asleep while playing it.

While not outright awful, I find it hard to recommend it to people.

    A+ for effort though.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 09/05/2019

  • 8/10

One of the best edutainment games from the 90s. It has a fantastic art style and sense of humor, it has random elements that are great for replaying the game, and it's actually entertaining to play through without insulting the intelligence of it's intended young audience.

Also, the voice of Pajama Sam did the voice of Bobby of King of the Hill.

  • 8/10

An pretty good follow up to the first Pajama Sam game.

  • PC: 8/10

  • PC: 9/10

One of the greatest arena shooters of all time. Too bad that I was never good at arena shooters.

Bot AI is some of the best. Not only can you chat with them, but when they talk to you, they even pause and stop moving to "type" the responses and insults like a real person.

Excellent art by John Mueller. Each character has their own animations when moving.

    DIFFICULTY: "Bring It On!"

  • 9/10

I was more of an Unreal Tournament guy that a Quake III guy. Still not that good at arena shooters.

  • 360: 8/10

Having that many zombies on the screen at the same time was graphically impressive at the time, and is still pretty impressive.. The story is incredibly cheesy and the fact that the main character takes it so seriously is what makes it that much more amusing.

  • 8/10

Pretty much a rip off of the movie "Three Kings" (1999). The whole story is dumb fun. The helicopter section around the middle of the game is the worst part, since the controls are a little difficult to get used to. The FOV is a bit small. Too bad there wasn't a PC version of this game.

  • 360: 8/10

I remember when I didn't have a general dislike of the Call of Duty franchise.

  • 7/10

Not quite as good as SOMA, but a pretty fantastic experience. All of the hallucinations are pretty good and the jump scares don't feel too intrusive. The combat is a bit hit or miss (no pun intended), and I'm still not sure what the timing for attacking the deep sea creatures is.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 28/05/2019

  • 7/10

The game is a bit short and the ending was a bit anti-climactic, but I assume that's because of the games budget and/or time constraints. The game can get a bit repetitive, but the game was fun all the way through though.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 7/6/2019

  • 7.5/10

The "Circuit Racer" cars are complete bullshit and are hard to drive, and they're the entire reason that my playthrough of Burnout 3 took longer than it should have. The cars always spin out, often making my car face the wrong direction or veer into a wall.

The camera when you're trying to get an "Aftertouch Takedown" feels like it's either pointing in the wrong direction or is behind something at least half of the time.

The videos that introduce the mechanics and game modes aren't skippable, so if you're either familiar with the mechanics, replaying the game, or just want to get into the gameplay, you have to sit through ~2-3 minutes of the unfunny DJ telling you how to play the game.

Also, the DJ is not that funny and his clips repeat way too much. Thankfully you can turn his voice off.

There are times where the the sky is clearly overcast and yet the sign is bright and the whole course looks like it's lit up like a clear sunny day despite the weather.

I know this is going to piss off a lot of people, but Burnout 3 hasn't aged as well as people think it did, and this is coming from a guy who loves this game and has been playing it on and off since it came out. But this is where the franchise got it's groove.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 15/07/2019

  • 6/10

Too short, too easy, mediocre everything else. The only reason to play/collect this is the fact that it was an Australia only Genesis/Mega Drive game and it's decent enough for only one play through.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 27/07/2019

    My Full Review - https://cultclassiccornervideogames.wordpress.com/2019/12/11/daze-before-christmas-review/

  • PC: 7/10

Graphically, this game is gorgeous, even today. The first half of this game is pretty good with the gorgeous open world that lets you explore at your own pace, even with the suspect voice acting and cheesy plot, but the second half is laughably bad.

    MODS:

    Onirica - 5/10

  • 5/10

Another bad film based video game. Comes with a neat bonus game "Thou Art Dead", based on the one from the film. I would have rated the game a 4 if it weren't for this bonus game.

  • 7/10

Fun arcade-style racing game. It might be considered a bit shallow in retrospect, and a bit rough around the edges, but it's still really fun.

  • 7/10

  • 9/10

  • 8/10

I know that UT2k4 has essentially replaced this, but this has content that 2004 doesn't have and I still have no idea why this isn't on sale anywhere, even as a bonus for the GOG version.

  • 7/10

The team focused game modes never really worked with Quake III, but I can't really argue with more Quake III.

It's more Quake III, so the gameplay is still really good. But some of the maps are all over the place in terms of quality. The only good thing this adds is a few more game modes.

  • 7/10

  • It's just a short storybook version of the 1995 film. It even has those neat clickable areas around each screen that is a neat little easter egg/distraction.

  • 7/10

Despite the fact that it's a bit simple in retrospect, it's still a solid RTS.

    Blizzard can go fuck themselves.

  • PC: 8/10

Improves everything from the first game.

    Blizzard can go fuck themselves.

  • PC: 8/10

It's more Warcraft II, and there is nothing wrong with that.

    Blizzard can go fuck themselves.

  • 8/10

This is probably the last Warcraft game that I enjoyed.

    Blizzard can go fuck themselves.

  • 8/10

    Blizzard can go fuck themselves.

  • PC: 8/10

    Blizzard can go fuck themselves.

  • PC: 8/10

    Blizzard can go fuck themselves.

  • 4/10

The controls are awful, and you have to assign all of your moves to the numpad along with the surrounding keys, such as the page up and down keys.

The concept for this game was neat at least, even though it was incredibly limited in what it could do, or what the team was capable of with the money and/or time they had.

You could either create your own character using random pieces of action figures made specifically made for this game (like Frankenstein's character), or recreate one of the characters from the movie.

Even as a kid, I kinda knew that this was an awful game. But since it was one of the few games that I had access to at the time, I got so good at it that I could finish it really quickly and get the diamond rating (highest rating) in every fight.

While I am nostalgic about it, it's pretty obviously a bad fighting game. It's not even the best Small Soldiers game.

  • Original - 7/10

  • Original - 8/10

    Remastered - 8/10

The PC version of the remastered edition keeps crashing in the middle of the more intense combat.

    Minerva's Den DLC - 8/10

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 15/10/2019

  • 7/10

Not bad, but mixed feelings on it. I think it's probably my least favorite BioShock game, and probably the worst of the whole series.

    Burial at Sea: Episode 1 - 7/10

    Burial at Sea: Episode 2 - 7/10

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 18/10/2019

  • PC: 7/10

  • 6/10

The rubber banding from some of the harder racers/tracks is slightly annoying.

  • 5/10

I don't know who is going to get much out of this other than Australians and hipsters/people who like obscure quirky indie games. It's pretty laid back.

I have one petty complaint, and that is there is no run button. I know there are only like 4 locations in the whole game, and they're all small, but a run button would be nice for future playthroughs.

Can't jump over a bunch of small boxes, but can outrun a T-Rex.

The checkpoint/autosaves are actually well placed and when I died I never lost any progress. It's short, but it knows to not drag out the whole experience like a lot of bad Steam games do.

  • 4/10

It's a one note joke. If it wasn't for the fact that I paid 75 cents for it on a sale, I wouldn't have bought it to begin with. Good for maybe 1 to 2 playthoughs at most.

  • 5/10

It's dumb and short, which should be obvious from the title and promotional images and video, but it's leagues better than some other games that I've played because it doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is, which is dumb and short.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 29/12/2019

  • 8/10

Great call back to mid-90s First Person Shooters.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 11/01/2020

    Outlast: Whistleblower - 8/10

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 26/01/2020

  • 7.5/10

If this game replaced the flashbacks to certain events from the playable characters past and replaced them with slower moments that give the game a proper pace instead of it trying to rush you through all of it's content, it could have easily been as good as the original game.

The first 5 issues of the comic "The Murkoff Account" tell the story in between the first and second game, while the 6th and final issue is set after Outlast II.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 28/01/2020

  • 7/10

The art style and sense of scale and just how big the levels were is really impressive, and the soundtrack is decent. The story is not exactly stellar, but is alright. The gameplay loop was good enough to get me through the game.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 13/02/2020

  • 7/10

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 25/02/2020

  • ARCADE: 7/10

PS2/XBOX/GCN: 7/10 (Featured in the "Midway Arcade Treasures 2" collection)

Hilariously cheesy and over the top. It pretty must distills all of the cliches and tropes of a cliched 80's action movie into an arcade game.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 05/03/2020

  • 8/10

Nice art style. Good for introducing a younger audience to puzzle games. And the voice acting that the developers added in a patch is also a nice addition.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 09/03/2020

  • This was released in Happy MealsTM to get children to buy more cheeseburgers.

  • 5/10

Literally one of the most unremarkable and bland games that I've ever played. The only reason that I wouldn't give it a lower score is that I've played much, much worse games. At least this is functional

"Go investigate that noise." Fuck that, I'm outta here.

Fun neat short horror experience. Enjoyed it.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 25/04/2020

  • 8/10

Moving around the environment is slightly clunky. The rest of it is a pretty solid adventure game.

Was not aware of the Blacksad comics before playing this, bt this game made me want to read the graphic novels.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 30/04/2020

  • PC: 6/10

It might be short and simple, but it's a fun cheesy light gun shooter.

  • 3/10

I don't feel like getting into the story and themes, as they are uncomfortable to talk about and done poorly.

No graphical options, only "Low", "Medium", "High", and "Epic". I know that the audience for this game aren't exactly computer savy, but it would have been nice to have an "Advanced Options" menu. The game also has trouble loading in textures/graphical features, with them popping in and out on occasion. This game desperately needs another patch to smooth some of it's problems out.

I got all the achievements for this game by pure accident simply because I was exploring the hotel to figure out what what was the mystery in the story.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 09/06/2020

  • 7/10

I know that this game is going to be unfairly compared to Bioshock because of it's themes and aesthetic, but I think it's still a decent game, even if it's nowhere as good as the first Bioshock game.

    Like Bioshock meets Singularity.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 11/06/2020

  • 5/10

It has Tony Todd in it, and Tony Todd is great in everything he's in. And Tony Todd is the only good thing about this game.

It's a lot more polished that the first game, but still feels like it's bogged down by the chunkiness of it's controls, specifically trying to open doors and other things as you're rushing to get away from things that are chasing you.

The only good thing that I can say about it is that it has a lot of neat graphical tricks, but even those get tiresome by the end of the game.

The whole game just ends up as tedious.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 13/06/2020

  • This game was short, so I can't exactly talk about without just spoiling everything, but it's a neat solid little experience.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 13/03/2019

  • Neat concept for a game. Doesn't overstay it's welcome.

  • 7.5/10

Wasn't the biggest fan of the final boss, but this was a fun little game overall.

    Recommended.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 15/06/2019

  • 6/10

I have a few problems with the ending and overall story, but the way it was told was unique.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 16/06/2019

  • 8/10

    Comfy. Highly recommended. Enjoyed it.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 18/06/2020

  • 6/10

The aesthetics are really nice, and the story is decent. Unfortunately, the whole game is a "walking simulator" (I don't like the term, but I don't know what else to call it) in which you collect a bunch of items before you can leave the area, which is going to turn a lot of people away from it, and I don't blame them.

From what I can find, it seems like this team didn't do much after this game's poor reception and sales, which bums me out.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 25/06/2019

  • 6/10

It's a dumb joke. But it's ~5-10 minutes long at most and free, so it doesn't overstay it's welcome.

  • The Ultimate Doom

    PC: 8/10

    COMPLETED DIFFICULTY: "Hurt Me Plenty!"

The level designs are mazes, and mildly annoying at the best of times, and frustratingly tedious and confusing at the worst. It doesn't help that the tech was limited (even if it was revolutionary) at the time and some levels designs end up being abstract. Also, the lost souls are fucking annoying.

The gameplay loop is still incredibly fun and I would highly recommend this.

    PSX: 8/10

A pretty solid version of Doom. But instead of metal for it's soundtrack, it has a bunch of moody atmospheric tracks, which really add to the new moody lighting, making it feel more like an actual horror game rather than a fast paced action game with horror elements.

Plus it has that neat 'Club Doom' level as a bonus.

    GBA: 8/10

A really impressive port of the original doom, even if it is censored and is missing levels.

OG XBOX (Doom III: Collector's Edition): 8/10

    Another good port of Doom.

    DOOM III: BFG EDITION: 7/10

I think there might be something wrong with the sound emulation in this version.

    SNES: 5/10

It both really pushes the boundaries of what the Super Nintendo was capable of. I am incredibly impressed at this port of Doom purely from a technological level, but I probably wouldn't play it for more than a few levels because of it's resolution and framerate.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 09/07/2019

  • Rating: N/A

It's a promotional tool for Devolver's (then upcoming_ games, so I can't really rate it anything.

But it's still a solid fun experience and it's free. It's a bit depressing that what is esentially an advertisement for other games was a more fun and better experience that some of the games that I've put money down for.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 12/07/2019

  • 8/10

The maps have similar issues to first game, such as they can be mazes and since the Doom engine can be a little limited in replicating something that looks like an actual location, it makes the levels too abstract to actually be anything recognizable despite being on Earth and having several levels set in a city, but the new weapon, new power up, and enemies, make this game a massive step up over the first.

And if you thought that the Lost Souls were annoying in the first game, one of the new enemies, the Pain Elemental, is much more annoying. It can spawn more Lost Souls, and when you kill them, they can explode, releasing even MORE Lost Souls. Any decent level can balance out these new enemies right, but I don't think that formula was done 100% right in Doom II, but in the various mods and maps made in the next 25 years.

But on the flip side, the game the Double Shotgun as a weapon and a few more enemies to round out the bestiary.

Also, "Map 24: The Chasm" is absolute trash.

    DIFFICULTY: "Ultra Violence"

    GBA: 8/10

Just like the port of the original Doom, this is an impressive port of the game, even if it's censored and missing levels.

    BFG EDITION: 7/10

For some reason it has performance issues and has slow downs when too many monsters are moving around.

No Rest For The Living (Doom II: Hell On Earth)

    8/10

Going immediately from Doom II to this shows what ~25 years of experience in Doom mapping can do. A solid set of 9 new levels.

    DIFFICULTY: "Ultra Violence"

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 20/07/2019

    MODS:

    Ancient Aliens - 9/10

    Pirate Doom - 9/10

Doom II: The Cube - 7/10

  • 9/10

One of the best racing games out there and a personal favorite of mine.

  • 8/10

It's disappointing that we didn't get the direct sequel to this, even if the other 'In Name Only' Prey game is decent.

The first game felt like it has personality and wasn't trying to be serious like other modern military shooters of the time like "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" or "Battlefield 1943", even making fun of more serious games in it's advertising. This one just feels bland and boring in comparison in terms of story. It also pretends the other one doesn't exist because that game never came to the PC. Why not just port the original game to promote this game?

It's like they wanted to use the "Bad Company" name because it was recognizable, but it ended up being less less appealing by making it more like every other modern military shooter on the market. I don't know why they attached the "Bad Company" title onto it when they could have easily rewritten some of it and made it a whole new thing.

Also, it completely ignores the previous games plot for the new PC audience who didn't get a port of the first game. I have no idea why they didn't just port the first game, I would have rather than game than this one. It evens on a cliffhanger, which I'm pretty sure was the lead in for another Battlefield game.

The developers could have easily skipped the Single Player portion and made all of the multiplayer DLC for another Battlefield game.

An underappreciated arcade game that is only known because of an 'Angry Video Game Nerd' video that came out ages ago, which I'm also sure got completely forgotten.

Never heard of this? I don't blame you. It's not quite a fondly remembered arcade game, but not because it was bad, but because there were other bigger arcade games that were out at the time, and this got overshadowed.

Yeah, I know, technically this game can't be completed, but I'm putting this here anyway.

  • Decently creepy, free, and short enough that it doesn't overstay it's welcome. Worth checking out if it looks interesting to you, and takes no more than 5 minutes to complete.

  • 7/10

    It's cute, comfy, and short

  • 7/10

Short and effectively creepy. Enjoyed it.

  • It's a one note joke, and once you've played it, there's no need to ever play it again. You could probably watch a video and get the same effect. At least it's free and incredibly short.

  • 8/10

  • PC - 7/10

Not always clear which part of the screen that you're supposed to click on. A lot of the puzzles are simple, but that's probably because it was originally a mobile phone game.

Good art style, decent sense of humor.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 11/09/2020

  • Literally can't get this anywhere any more, but I did manage to be one of the lucky few to get to play it when it existed. It was a neat little experiment.

I'm not going to give it a rating because it would be unfair to everyone who can't play it.

  • PC: 8/10

The worst enemies are the Spawns and bring the game down a point. The aesthetic is fantastic. I think this might be my favorite ID Software game.

The most official unofficial mod for Quake, made by MachineGames for the 20th Anniversary of Quake, It's a decent episode for Quake, but the ending is a tad underwhelming.

    Alien Quake, 7/10 - https://cultclassiccornervideogames.wordpress.com/2019/06/17/mod-corner-alien-quake-quake-review/

  • 8/10

Levels actually look like they could actually be a proper location instead of an abstract level, and they connect with each other, actually giving a sense of progression. It adds back in the hammer that was in the design document for the original Quake. The soundtrack is pretty decent. Instead of going for creepy atmospheric horror like the original game, it goes for more of an action vibe.

The Spike mines seem pointless, are easily taken out, and are just slower Spawn. The only reason that I know that they even exist in the game and just completely miss this is that one surprised me out of nowhere when it exploded on me and took away some of my health. Other enemies are fine, but nothing special.

The boss is the generic standard 90s FPS boss/enemy where you strafe around them firing at them because they're bullet sponges.

It's more quake, and that's good.

    COMPLETED: DD/MM/YYYY 24/09/2019

  • 7/10

New enemies aren't that exciting. Electric Eels replace the Rotfish, Hell Spawn are just more annoying Spawn and have a bad pun as their names, Mummies are just stronger Zombies, and the Wrath are just flying versions of Vore. And who the fuck wants MORE Spawn?

And while the final boss of the original Quake isn't anything special, it at least felt appropriate. Same with the first Expansion Pack. The boss for this expansion pack is just worse.

While both episodes have their own theme and look to each of them to spice up things, the levels here are just OK.

Dissolution of Eternity isn't bad, just underwhelming. This is the worst out of the two Expansion Packs.

  • Just like how "Not Tetris" was a neat little twist on Tetris, this is a neat little twist on Pac-Man.

  • Can't give it rating because it wasn't ever released. In fact, it's not even an unreleased game, it's an unreleased proof of concept for a game. It's more of a curiosity for people who love oddball retro gaming rather than something you should seek out.

The fact that someone thought that a hamster bobsledding through cyberspace would make a good game were pretty hopeful, and 20 years ahead of their time considering the retro ironic hipster indie games coming out these days and could probably be sold for $10 on Steam, Itch.io, and GOG.

It's entertaining for about 10 minutes at most.
