I hated everything about Carth Onasi from Knights of the Old Republic. Every word out of his mouth, the annoying voice he used to spew them, his dumb jacket, the two stupid spikes of hair hanging from his ugly forehead, the pathetic excuse for facial hair glued to his boring face. It didn't ruin the game for me. But ugh. Carth.

Also just about everyone in every Borderlands game past the first. I am a man who reads every bit of conversation and lore and never skips a cutscene when I play games. When I play MMOs, half the subscription money is spent reading item descriptions. But I straight up don't want to hear anything anyone has to say in those games. Handsome Jack is the worst offender, but only because they clearly think they created something brilliant and shove him anywhere they can.

I haven't watched that trailer since it came out. I remember thinking "No way this is real. This looks too good". Looking at it now it looks like an average PS4 game. So does Fallen Order though, so I guess they look the same.

I really really wanted to play 1313 though. I get excited when there's Star Wars stuff that isn't about Jedi. But they always find a way to cancel it or make it about Jedi.

I have literally been chasing the feeling Spelunky gave me when I played it for the past 7 years now. I will look into and most likely purchase anything that mentions procedural generation or permadeath. My collection of just roguelike/lite games is in the hundreds at this point. And while I have found plenty of games I really like, not one has made me feel the way I'm looking for. But I'm not sick of looking yet. If Spelunky 2 can't do it, maybe I'll give up.

"Although based on a series of books, previous Witcher games were never that convincing from a narrative perspective, stringing together missions based on the usual archetypes and cliches."

I dunno man. The Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time, but that reads like someone who never actually played the other games.

Fantastic to see Spelunky so high on any list though. I'll say it anytime I get a chance: That game is perfect.

It was actually really hard to think of games I played that came out this year. I've been in a habit lately of playing games I bounced off years ago and getting way into them this time for some reason (Prey is really good y'all). Of the games that came out this year I played

Borderlands 3

Dicey Dungeons

Void Bastards

Mario Maker 2

Cadence of Hyrule

Of those I guess my favorite was....Mario Maker? I dunno. There's nothing I've played or seen that jumped out to me as an obvious favorite the way something like Red Dead or The Witcher have in years past.

I used to be the kind of person who would say "there's no such thing as a perfect blah blah blah". But nah. Spelunky is perfect. So much so that it single-handedly changed what I look for in video games.

I got mine in March 2018 and three months later the left joycon was drifting. I'm pretty careful with my stuff and I've been lucky enough to avoid most hardware issues (I had a red ring'd 360 but didn't everyone?). I bought another pair of joycons in December 2018 that so far have had no issues.

I've gone in on exclusively using GoG 2.0. I've not been happy with Steam lately and I'm putting my money where my mouth is. It's been pretty good so far.
