I'm going to echo everyone else and say the gameplay looks alllmost there. But the UI. My god. I understand every game can't be Persona 5, but what's on display here is like an active attempt to be as lazy as possible.
It's so fascinating/infuriating how Dan will get excited about something like this, and start to watch and appreciate anime and you think Dan is really more open minded than you think.
Then every time Persona 5 comes up he acts like it's still nerd shit for nerds. I gotta wonder. Does being a Nintendo exclusive buy this game a lot of bonus points for him or something?
I just want you to know that I appreciate that people like you exist.
I just feel totally overwhelmed by today's political climate. I feel torn in every direction by everyone's increasingly radical ideologies and agendas. It really makes me just want to not engage with anyone, which is sad. It's nice to know there are still level-headed folks out there.
@hiimzev: Jeff is a very mechanics focused guy. He likes tight controls and a good gamefeel. Games that excel at narrative or atmosphere but perhaps don't have the best gameplay are almost always meh'd by him.
It's okay, Jan, to like Kingdom Hearts! There's dozens of us!
As someone who's a casual fan of both series, I would argue the overall writing in Metal Gear Solid is no better than Kingdom Hearts.
Replace every instance of the word friendship with nuclear arms and it's the same shit. Dan only thinks it's not anime silliness because it's cool-guy-stuff like spies and guns instead of cartoon animals and keys.
I'm not saying I want them to race to find the worst games or anything, but I'm always far more interested to see the fighting games outside of the Capcom/SNK sphere. That there was a Fight Club game at all is absurd.
