Everything I'm seeing leads me to think this game is more combat-centric than the first, so I guess that's a bit of a confirmation there. I'm still not quite sure what to make of it though... maybe I'm a little disappointed? I was SUPER into the additional concept videos they included on PC and was very interested in what ideas they would be able to include in the sequel, but if you'd asked me what I'd want in a bigger, better Ori game, the one thing I probably would have never said was melee combat. I've been looking forward to this for so long, I hope I find some coverage somewhere that puts my fears at ease so I can pick it up.
@jasonr86:True, but isn't this edited footage from when Brad played it at an event? Meaning he would have been going through tutorials and such at his natural pace.
I will say, as someone who came up in the videogame magazine era, GB has really done a great job of removing all assumptions I had that videogame journos and the like are generally great at games. They're generally good at *writing/expressing their opinions about* games, which is a distinction I now appreciate and informs how I receive said opinions.
There seems to be a lot more focus/emphasis on the combat in the sequel, and that's made me hesitant. As much as OatBF is rightly considered a metroidvania, it's still a platformer at heart. I hope that characteristic doesn't get lost in the mix for OatWotW.
