I can't sympathize. I love playing retro games as much as I do playing new games. I agree that the NES TMNT was a poor first effort overall, but I enjoyed playing it nonetheless. I was the guy my friends called when they wanted to play the game and get past the dam level; I always had to beat it for them. Sheesh! It's not that hard—just don't swim into the pink things.
The music was horrid, though.
EDIT: Just beat the dam level. 13 seconds to spare; no turtles lost.
EDIT: Level 3 complete.
EDIT: Level 4 complete..
EDIT: Level 5 complete. Shredder, here we come! (Also, April says I'm great.)
I'd pay $20, I guess. I actually don't care about anything on that list but Cruis'n Exotica. And furthermore, I'd have to wait until there are multiple good reviews, because after buying Midway Arcade Treasures 1 & 2, I really don't trust Midway to port titles and do a good job of it.
I don't have any idea at all what it's about, and I don't care for Hollywood's congratulatory pat-itself-on-the-back award shows, the results, or whether I've seen the year's must-see film.
About a week ago, the site started redirecting to GameSpot, of all places. At the time everyone figured that meant GameRankings was finished. But now, who knows?
Isn't that really two different questions? As far as I can tell, there is no evidence that El Fuerte and El Stingray are the same character. The only thing that we seem to know about them for sure is that both are masked Mexican wrestlers. However, In Mexican professional wrestling, masked wrestlers (luchadores) are extremely common, so this alone proves nothing.
However, they most certainly do exist in the same universe. The Street Fighter franchise has crossed over with the Final Fight franchise (several Final Fight characters appeared in the SF Alpha series) and the Final Fight franchise crossed over with the Saturday Night Slammasters franchise (Haggar appeared in all the Slammasters games.) So an El Fuerte/El Stingray grudge match isn't out of the question if Capcom so chooses.
Another point is that if Capcom had wanted El Fuerte to be El Stingray, they probably would have just made him into El Stingray, as they have not been at all shy about crossing over these franchises before. There would be no need for the mystery, unless this is their hidden homage to the world of luchador wrestling. But since they created a new character with a new name and a new design, I would have to surmise that he is truly intended to be a unique character.
