@oddballs: Google did try being their own ISP, it was google Fibre and they gave up on it because it cost to much and telecom companies made it as difficult as possible for them. Telecom companies are big enough and powerful enough that they don't really need to conform to google. The amount of money google would have to put up to out lobby these companies would instantly put the entire Stadia endeavour in the red, and google only sticks with things if it makes them a lot of money.

The only thing that'll make ISPs change is the law, and for the foreseeable future the law is absolutely on their side.

Honestly, Jack Buser's segment is the thing that really galvanized that google is going to drop stadia as a failure in a few years, like so many other google services.

The absolute biggest issue that thing has is people's access to good internet. His response to ISPs having data caps is "they'll have to change for us eventually". Yep, those ISPs sure did change for google when they busted into the scene with google fibre. That went great for google.

The bit that really gets me though is when he said Stadia is for people in countries where consoles can be prohibitively expensive. Ok, you mean the same countries with poor internet standards?

It's the most silicon valley "it works for us in San Francisco, so it'll work everywhere else" stuff. If a through and through PR guy like Buser has answers this terrible for easily the most important questions about Stadia, then the company either hasn't thought of these problems, or doesn't care.

As someone who's a big fan of the Souls style games, I love how different this seems. It's fascinating how you can see the evolution of their design from Demon's Souls to Sekiro.

As someone who currently lives in Canada, streaming videogames seems like such a laughable concept to me. Internet is slow and expensive for much of the world. Significant infrastructure improvements and steep price drops for internet service would need to happen before something like this can really take off.

Honestly, I'm kind of into this. If I find it for 15 bucks or under I'll probably get it and have a decent time.

Call me crazy, but this game is actually pretty damn cool, especially given how cheap it is.

I know Dan brought up playing RE6, but if they did a co-op RE game on camera, I think Revelations 2 is a better fit. It's a better game, better balance of horror and action, interesting asymmetrical co-op, Claire and Barry Burton are in it, the story and characters actually interesting, and it has neat stuff with both sides of the campaign taking place in the same location at different times.

Also I feel like everyone would get a kick out of playing as a little girl throwing bricks at zombies.

Yeah, I've got to agree with the majority, this wasn't a very good quick look for showing off the game. The Hitman games have absolutely always been like what they are in 2016 and Hitman 2, just more limited in scope due to the technology. The only ones that weren't really like that all the time were the first one (it has some action focused levels) and Absolution (way more linear).

Showing off the bayou wedding level or the opera house level would have been a good look at what Blood Money was really doing way back when. It's not even a nostalgia thing, they're fantastic levels in their own right and absolutely just as puzzle focused as ever.
