Wonderful post that highlights an aspect that I didn't think about watching Jeff play this game. It does feel like we're reaching the end of an era when it comes to modding games. In the previous generation, it seems like a decent amount of developers got their starts in modding communities, and it's not longer the case today. However, seeing that it's easier than ever to monetize your own game creations and make your work available on 3D asset stores, I wonder if the net result is just better for creators.

This thread is just making me think about TANG and the Hotspot, and it's making me sad. Fucking Paul WS Anderson with his Jedi mind tricks.

Running Firefox 62.0.3 (64-bit) and the carousels are static for me; there are no arrows to cycle through the sections. This happened for me in the 10 year anniversary page, and I had no idea there were supposed to be more than the five listed. I'm not running any extensions.

Compared to the recent polygonal ones, this looks miles better. At the least the women in the trailer don't look like aliens.

I've got maybe 5 around the house (of varying models), not including the numerous Pi Zeros that I also have. They're a lot of fun to mess around with, but I've never really found a permanent use for any of them.

hackster.io and the Raspberry Pi website have some good projects, if you want step-by-step guides or just ideas for something. If you don't know how to operate a unix system, the Pi is a great place to start.

On a separate note, I'm currently in the process of putting an ESP32 into a NES Advantage controller, which has been a relatively fun time.

Nullpolmino on the PC will give you the most options. It is the best unofficial Tetris client, despite it's age and general Java-ness.

If you're on consoles, Puyo Puyo Tetris is a fine way to play Tetris as well. I have 100s of hours in the Japanese Vita version, and it's my go-to portable game. However, it doesn't have the customization options of a quality PC client.

I can go months and months without a smart phone. You quickly forget about it. I used to do a decent amount of traveling, and because of data roaming fees, my phone was basically just a device for sending texts to loved ones and would stay locked up in hotel rooms.

I bought a small media player a few years back that I have a 64 gb SD card in. It basically fulfills all of my podcast listening needs, doesn't drain my phone battery with use, and looks cheap enough that I'm never worried about someone stealing it.

I also realized a few years ago that I was often using podcasts as noise filters, and wasn't actually listening to them. Since then, I'll pop in some earplugs and do some reading to pass the time. People don't steal books most of the time.

Typically though, the best option is go with someone who doesn't want to swim and will hang out with your stuff. Another option (rather obviously) is putting on a smile and asking a nice family to make sure no one steals your crap.

If you're in LA, I assume you're driving, and I'd just lock it in my car. If you're taking public transit, and are deathly suspicious of everyone, you could go the old school route of finding a local YMCA and locking your valuables there... but I don't know if they even allow that kind of stuff anymore.
