I wonder if games like these that don't do the full voice acting would be better NOT doing the "miscellaneous line read that roughly matches the tone of the dialog" every third line thing. Because I feel like that's way more distracting and annoying than just having silence. Some games do it well, by which I mean having it happen rarely.
@chrjz: He's moving to Stamford, Connecticut, which is where WWE HQ is. He probably was in it for the long haul what with those house plans, but I'm guessing the Literal Dream Job showing up shook that up.
It's a bummer that Jeff had the experience he did. I actually do think that the game would be improved with a more forceful tutorial, really make you learn the mechanics before you get in your ship. Because it's entirely possible to just skip the "fixing your ship in space" tutorial, and if you don't know how to do that, like, get fucked? And I think that the game should do something, even if it's an immersion breaking text box after the first loop that says "Hey! Chill out. You have limited time per run, but unlimited runs. It's okay to take it slow. You are in no rush. You will know when something is time sensitive."
I think it would be great content for him and someone else on the West team to sit down and record him playing it as a Let's Play. Outer Wilds especially benefits from having a sherpa with you to gently guide you along the way and to make sure you're not wasting your time and getting frustrated.
Thanks to this video I got to see the inside of The Interloper for the first time. Don't know how I managed to miss that...
It's optional, and not spelled out how you get in there. Kind of one of those things you have to intuit. Basically the ice on the "face" cracks when the Interloper is near the sun. So you have to land, then wait for its orbit to get to a certain point before you can explore it.
I'm genuinely fine with the podcasts, but I think that the recap portion could be more focused. Maybe just talk about personal top 10 candidates, kind of like what waypoint is doing.
I'm sad about Best Moment and Hottest Mess being cut. I'm sad about the lack of group videos. I think that the solo videos could have been dramatically improved by featuring three staff members talking instead of one monologuing.
And finally, some of y'all in these comments are unnecessarily nasty. Not the worst these comments have been, but a pretty damn bad look. Makes it embarrassing to be a part of them community.
Outer Wilds looks and feels great, but I don't think the ways OW knocks me on my ass fits into "Style". If they still had Best World (and could agree on a definition for it) then Outer Wilds would win that by a mile.
