It was a diverse house though I did focus on the SNES and GB for 2-3 years in the early-mid '90s.

Benchmark/worthwhile game minimum: Ultima VII (worldbuilding, dialogue), Daggerfall Unity when it comes to movement, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (PC, 2004)(10.9 fan patch), Fallout 3 (tricky to rank because it's such a mixed bag)

@manburger Hey, thanks for reading! Same. These came about from a fascination with various "firsts" in games, which started off as a list and I only started turning into blogs to make them a bit more palatable to the average person. I'm gonna try a YT series as well, we'll see what happens with that.

I got into the ES series myself pretty recently, starting with Daggerfall early last year. Or rather, the Unity version which runs and looks better, and you can mod in all sorts of ways (related to FT you can make the game run like you're fast forwarding in an emulator, kinda neat but not exactly immersive). I've heard ES3: Morrowind is a fan favorite when it comes to FT though, I'm just about done with Fallout 3 so I think I'll have a look at it soon-ish.

I totally agree with that last point, that's why I love (good) metroidvania games too since they tend to add interesting movement abilities that change how you traverse the same areas. But more unusual takes on FT can be cool as well.

"It's yet another big money maker for corporations that will only hurt human content creators."

On the bright side it will free up time for these people to watch AI outdo them at what they love doing
