I want it...but I can wait.
PlayStation Home
Game » consists of 1 releases. Released Dec 11, 2008
PlayStation Home was a social games network where PSN users could play games and socialize. Home saw a refocus in Fall 2011 in North America and Europe that put more emphasis on games than social spaces.
HOME, still excited?
im a 360 owner and i really wish sony got HOME earlier i am a fanboy of sony and Microsoft. I think sony and ms need to destroy the WII i hate all those stupid casual games.
"It's funny how I see articles and whatnot about the avatars and how they are so innovative and whatnot, but Sony is the one that started it with Home, and it pisses me off a bit how they give one thing credit and the other none. >_>Avatars are nothing new. They have been in chatroom clients since the early internet days. On the consoles, The Miis were the first....
"
Home isn't innovative at all.Certain features of it may seem promising, but it's as original as a 10 dollar bill.

Lol, well the idea of many things are not NEW, but they are done in a new way. Have you ever seen a gaming console with a virtual community? Turning the online network for the system into a free 3D virtual world? No. Just because its been done on PC doesn't mean this is not innovation. Mii's are somethig innovative, because they brung it to a console, in a toony form, suited for everyone. And when you say Mii's were there first, you forget this project dates back on the PS2, as well. You think they could have made Home and shown it just several months after Mii's came out? That's purely stupid.
And seeing that you obviously know very little about Home, AND you have not even used it, I don't think are the best person obligated to say what's innoavtion and what isn't.
"LiquidPrince said:Much more efficient then 3D I think."Menu home. As in 2D menu home.
"
Ahhh... yeah... mhmm.
"
Exactly, which Home has lol, its like some people think Home is ONLY 3D space with no menus whatsoever.
I'm actually more excited about the travel mechanism they're implementing in it than I am about Home in general. There's something awesome about using a virtual PSP to jump from area to area. ;)
It's a cool idea, either way, though. I think that providing gamers with a virtual space to meet up will help develop the PSN into a community. The addition of rooms dedicated to various games will help a lot, too, since it'll allow users to mix with others that have similar interests.
People are really underestimating the power of a good social platform. Home will essentially provide the community aspect of an MMO integrated with the variety of gameplay that can only be achieved by having access to multiple games.
Yeah, and imagine having a clan in Home too, with your own clan space. Then launching all together into a game with the peess of a button, its really awesome and has potential.
Anyone read the AU article recently? That was a great read and one of the first press articles I have read that has an agreeable take on Home.
"I feel so out of the loop for pretty much not having a clue what Home is. :)lol....thats funny, well good then, if you own a ps3, then you should be really happy to know that HOME is being released some time this year. i wish i never knew about it untill now, i'd be so psyched for it then.

"
Bahaha, so true.
"Nope...the game/application/whatever...hasn't got any good press and it's always getting delayed. Anyone who still thinks it will be amazing is sad...not to mention that Home will always be in beta like Gmail...
"
Uhhh, no good press? Wtf? Were you not there when it was announced? Have you not read the most recent articles? Being in the beta myself for more then a year now it has evolved so much from the debut, which awwed everyone. What Home is now, could be Home 2 in comparison to what it was at GDC 07 when first shown.
It will be amazing, and since your not in it I don't think you are obligated to base that statement as 'fact' or call anyone sad for thinking so. If anyone was pumped for it when it was debuted, which was just about everyone, then what you are in store for is an amazing social gaming experience. It's could revolutionize the online gaming, and as you can see XBL is starting to take hint at that as well.
"ugh!!! anyone get into the new beta invites??????"Here.
"Nope...the game/application/whatever...hasn't got any good press and it's always getting delayed."
You're right. I should abandon all hope because some random people I've never met that haven't seen the full product don't think it'll work out, and Sony's lack of desire to release an unfinished, unpolished product obviously speaks volumes about their lack of commitment to the platform.
Or, well, I can keep being positive about it, because it sounds cool. I think I'll go with that instead of letting random "journalists" develop my opinion for me. :P
"lol u know damn straight that if you download it, you will definitely use it at least ONCE, and i bet you anything you'll end up using it more than once thereafter.Am I excited?
"
No,
Will I use it?
No,
Will I download it?
If I have to
"I'm still somewhat excited about Home, but enough of these damn delays. When Home is finally release I will take some time to play the game and see what the game has to offer. I'm excited about the aforementioned themes for Home, maybe the Home team will include an LittleBigPlanet theme."You mean game spaces? Yeah, in the future every game can have their own game space, that is one of the most exciting things about Home IMO.
"Sentry said:Thats why I'm still excited, hard to beat free stuff."You better be! I'm in the closed beta, have been since May or so, and honestly its a really great tool.nice. whenever i hear from the beta testers its always very positive. im really looking forward to it.
I have said this many times in various forums and places; but I have made so many great friends in Home just from the beta, and the social ability in Home is like no other, its an extension of the PSN, creating a community where all PS3 gamers can chill with each other and talk, play games, get together and so on. It really is something that 360, Wii, and even PC don't have like this. Ability to go to E3 virtually with a bunch of buddies and get in a big group with friends as well as random people and just talk gaming and what they are showing, is really, really awesome.
"besides, even though its taking a while, ITS TOTALLY FREE! so why not be excited!?!"
