And I say something because no one knows what happened. Apparently, security showed up at Infinity Ward without warning and wouldn't tell any of the employees why they were there. The two studio heads were gone all day in a meeting with Activision and haven't come back. The employees aren't being told anything and everyone is obviously freaked out.
Freaky stuff. I'll update this thread with whatever gets announced.

Something happened at Infinity Ward
The security people played Modern Warfare 2 and want their money back. ZING
I took that comment off GameFAQs, by the way.
Hostile takeovers, the stuff Bobby Kotick dreams are made of!
This is what happens when you sync your security system with your playstation network account.
Also, Karl-Magnus Troedsson and his team of ninjas.
The two studio heads were gone all day in a meeting with Activision and haven't come back.
And nothing of value was lost.
When I wake up tomorrow morning to find that the entire staff of Infinity Ward has died due to mysterious bullet wounds, I will know why. Either that, or Bobby Kotick is going to turn them all into borg like he did with Neversoft.
" Weirdest day in gaming history, Portal transmissions, PS3's not working and now this? "Next...the PS3 and 360 will interbreed!
Activision is probably just telling IW that MW2 didn't make them enough money and they're closing them down so they can open another studio that only makes Wii shovel-ware and is also a puppie killing factory :)
This story is just to create a backstory to the new MW2 DLC where you have to fight off Russian Terrorists inorder to save Infinity Ward hostages.
OR!!!!!!
DICE decided to take care of Infinity Ward their own way.
" @Bionicicide: good point about that, who would be in the office at that hour? "Wouldn't hurt to conjecture, but maybe the bouncer-types arrived much earlier and prevented anyone from leaving?
" They have contracted a deadly disease, and will be quarantined shortly. "That's a terrible thing to say.

not really
No way is this a publicity stunt. Why would Activision want to look even more evil than they already do? Also, how would this in any way hinder the BC2 sales figures? Infinity Ward have nothing coming out anytime soon, so there's no need to stage some publicity stunt that's not going to profit them in any way.
Something really strange is going down at IW and Activision... that's for sure.

That's the definition of the word "publicity".
Apparently the situation between Activision and IW has been "Tense". Maybe IW wanted to buy their independence like Bungie from MS and Kotick said YOU'LL NEVER GET MINE MONIES. I hope they do go independent though, maybe then they can go back to making good, BALANCED games rather than the piece of bird poop that is MW2
" Maybe Treyarch is doing MW3 this fall. "not surprised. Treyarch didn't do MW2 only because they were already making WaW before IW announced Modern Warfare, so they couldn't get rid of what they had. And since Modern Warfare games are more popular nowadays than WWII games, Activision would make Treyarch produce the next game.

I'm going to be the one to say that this is not a PR move. Not a publicity stunt. Developers don't usually do that. It would have to be the publishers. And why would G4 jump into this as well. This would be way too much money to place on something that's already making money. So let's just wait to see what happens. After I read that post I was a little freaked out.

That's a real cynical way of looking at things. Not everything that happens in the public eye is a publicity stunt.
And hey, maybe it is a stunt. But if that's the case... Activision are dumber than I thought they were. They have nothing to gain from doing this. People planning to buy BC2 ain't gonna change their minds just because shits hit the fan at IW. Secondly... Modern Warfare 2 hardly needs anymore publicity than it already gets.

This seems just way too weird. I haven't the faintest as to what the hell is the meaning of all this.

"Wasn't it IW and not Activision who was behind the FAGS video? It could be a reveal for a map pack. A game this popular can get some marketing dollars thrown at the DLC.
