    Is a great game. 2

I thinks this game is fantastic, it makes another kick ass game in Halo franchise besides the firtst Halo. I do agree with We are ODST! \../ The music goes with the game, is really good, it has an special attachment to the environment in the game, like if you spect something to happen in the game. Graphics are great, what else can I say about the game is great, the gameplay and story line. Is a game where you want to kick ass....

    We Go Feet First 0

There's very little to be said about Halo 3: ODST that many people haven't already discovered for themselves.  As a Bungie game, based in the Halo Universe, hopes were always high for this one.  Sadly, much of the game fails to please the vast majority of people.  I must start here by stating I am a very big fan of ODST: I think it is a very well made game, and is highly enjoyable, however I cannot fail to see the inherent bad decisions which were made with it.  FPS games have always been my pre...

You're not Rambo this time 0

At the Tokyo Game Show in 2008, Bungie announced their new title, Halo 3: Recon. After a name change and some hard work its finally came out on September 22 2009. The biggest thing about this game is that your not playing as Master Chief. You are playing as an ODST, a soldier that is essentially and paratrooper without a parachute. The game takes place in New Mombasa, a city in Africa that has been invaded by enemy covenant. As you are dropping into the city a covenant ship takes off in...

    Halo ODST 0

I’m going to preface this review with the fact that I am not a Halo fan, that doesn’t mean I hate the series; I’m just not enamored with it. My purchase history of the Halo series is spotty at best, with Halo and Halo 3 being the only two I purchased. Halo 2, Halo Wars, Halo: ODST and Halo: Reach were all either given to me or I Gamefly’d them.   Now I am not saying all this to excuse my forthcoming review, I’m saying it so I can tell you I can see the games for what they really are, warts and a...

Mediocre shooter with the name "Halo" in the title. 0

A lot of Halo 3: ODST apologists say you can't really criticise this game because it was "never intended to be a full-fledged sequel." Well, if Microsoft released ODST as a $20 downloadable add-on for Halo 3, that statement would certainly ring true. My take on it would be: "ODST is a solid expansion and a serviceable shooter that features Halo's great combat mechanics in a welcome new spin on a well-worn formula." But unfortunately, Microsoft did not release ODST as a DLC add-on. They released...

    A Wasted Opportunity 0

Halo ODST was a massive missed opportunity for Bungie. They could've actually crafted a game that broke from their previous efforts. They could've actually shown us what combat was like from a vulnerable human's point of view, instead of from a power armored supersoldier's point of view. Instead of walking around like some sort of shielded tank, maybe we'd be able to go prone and take cover and do interesting stuff. But they squandered it all, they just didn't give a damn. So you're an OD...

Excellent Story and Mood Change for Halo 0

Having been a late comer to this and playing all of the other games in the Halo universe, I have to say that this one took me a bit by surprise. While initially intended to be an expansion for Halo 3 Bungie managed to create a wholly unique game that changes the mood, pacing and atmosphere for all of the other games in the series. It is a good thing too because the tried and true formula of charging through the world as Master Chief, while fun did grow a bit boring.   Instead of playing as a Spa...

Halo 3 ODST Review: Orbital expansion pack 0

Halo 3 ODST was billed as am expansion to the Halo 3 experience. What it promised was to provide a side story that runs alongside the Halo 2 campaign, but from the perspective of a unit of drop troops who are fighting the Covenant incursion on Earth. While ODST provides this, it retailed at the same price as a full game, despite lacking the game content to justify this price tag.    Here are our great new cast of characters The story of ODST also has some problems. The original trilogy of games ...

One Of The Best Halo Games 0

Playing as The Rookie while sneaking through a city filled with Covenants patrolling the city at night while you are trying to find your squad (Alpha-Nine) is amazing because you are not playing as a superhuman you not big as a brute, you're smaller than a brute, just a brute is scary for a single ODST. another thing is that it's just like the Halo games because you got the flying mission, the Scorpion mission, and the Warthog mission. The music in the game is fantastic, The Piano and Saxophone a...

    Prepare to drop 0

An all new Halo experience with a new protagonist, new locations, characters, and much more, ODST is an awesome addition to the franchise. Despite the title, the game takes place during the events of Halo 2, but before the events of Halo 3, which makes the title misleading, though it might make sense as a sort of prequel to Halo 3.The game was heavily criticized for being overpriced at launch since it costed 60 dollars upon release, and considering how short the game is (its extremely short camp...

    Halo 3 ODST Review 0

Halo 3 ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) gives the player the chance to take a peek into the war before Master Chief took the spotlight in the series. You will be playing as 5 different soldiers each with their own weapon of preference as well as mannerisms. For most of the game you will be playing as the silent rookie (could this be the future Chief?) touring the city and finding objects that will cause a memory flash followed by a small segment of time past where you'll assume the role of one...

My Halo 3 ODST Review 0

Halo 3 ODST is the newest installment in the Halo universe.you start out in the city of New Mombasa six hours after a drop goes wrong. You are now by yourself, the rookie of your group. Now you have to search the streets of New Mombasa and find clues as to what happened to your squad-mates.The missions are perfectly balanced with enemies galore. If you like to covenant kickass this is definitely the game for you because of the new feature firefight.Firefight allows the player to take on waves a...

    Short and sweet 0

Halo 3 ODST is a short game. Me and a buddy ran trough the campaign on normal mode in less than 3 hours. What I really love and the best part of the package, is Firefight mode. Get 3 of your friends together and try to stay alive while waves and waves of enemies come at you. Very fun. Also the stand alone Halo 3 map pack disc. (No halo 3 game disc required) The game ain't perfect, but for what comes in the package it's a great deal....

    More Than An Expansion 0

Halo 3: ODST brings a lot of new things to the traditional Halo formula while managing to not stray too far from the source material of its lineage.   First, the campaign; You are “The Rookie”, an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper that has been separated from his team due to an ill-timed drop on the planet of New Mombasa.   New Mombasa is a planet that was once ruled by humans but has since been lost to the invading Covenant.   Your mission, regroup with your squad and get the hell out of there. The ...

    Campaign and story review 0

This review focuses on ODST’s campaign and story and won’t go over, in too much detail, things that other reviews have already discussed. Gameplay: Yep... pretty typicalODST is your typical Halo game with typical Halo gameplay. Sure it has its nuances – Halo: CE health system (requiring medkits), no dual wielding, no equipment, no radar, fall damage, greater grenade capacity, the VISR (night vision)… etc – but it’s recognizably Halo. There’re still big battles and vehicular segments, you just ha...

You'll have a good time with ODST, but end up wanting more. 0

Note the inclusion of "Halo 3" in the game's title, "Halo 3: ODST." While the plot of the game has nothing to do with Halo 3, this is still an appropriate title. ODST is an expansion pack to Halo 3. ODST contains a new campaign, which is about half the length of the other Halo shooters. It has a new cooperative mode, Firefight, where players fight progressively stronger waves of enemies from the campaign. Finally, the package has a second disc, which runs Halo 3's multiplayer with all the expans...

Bungie does a very good job at making a fantastic fps. 0

Halo 3 ODST brings a new campaign, all the multiplayer maps, firefight, and a beta to Halo: Reach. The new campaign is fairly short and comprises mostly of wandering through a free roam version of New Mombosa after the covenant carrier does a slip space jump and messes up your way down into the city and knocking you out for six hours. After you wake up and jump out of your pod, you take damage and know what its like to use the new health system. The health system really adds a sensation of you b...

    Halo 3: ODST - Combat Humanized 0

Pros:  *The most interesting and atmospheric Halo campaign ever. * Firefight is all sorts of awesome. * Sadie's Story offers a  touching citizens perspective to the militaristic Halo universe. Cons:  * Campaign is short. *  * Second disc is mostly useless for Halo fans. *You spend way too much time in Visor mode. Halo 3: ODST is the next step in the Halo series that people may not have been expecting. As an expansion whose purpose is to tide us over until the next big Halo game (AKA Halo:...

You got ODST in my Halo 3 0

ODST is a competent game, that feels a little like an expansion pack with a few extras sprinkled in.  Those extras, such as firefight mode, and the mythic map pack, seem to only exist to justify ODSTs full game price tag.  Without them I would have a hard time coughing up full price for Halo 3: ODST.   The title alone reminds you of what this game really is: a repurposing of Halo 3s game play and engine to tell a side story in the Halo universe.  Set some time during Halo 2 and leading up to...

Halo : ODST Final Thoughts 0

Badass. That's the first word that comes to mind when thinking of ODST. Having just finished the game about 30 minutes ago, I'm still reeling from Bungie's latest offering in the Halo series.   So first things first: Is it worth $60? Your damn right it is. Hell, I payed $100 for the limited edition and I still feel it was worth it (albeit mine came with the limited edition ODST controller). It also depends on what defines "worth it" to you. Is it long enough to be a full priced game? In...

    It's definitely a Halo game! 0

It’s clear that the Halo franchise has so much support that Bungie is able to experiment with future game choices by looking into other areas knowing that a loyal fan base will relish any more opportunities to bask in the Halo universe, in the past this as resulted in such opportunities as Halo wars as well as books and anime. Using these incentives ODST was born. Taking the spotlight away from our faceless hero, and placing it on a group of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, we get to see the fight f...

A fun, if not too familar game 3

The Halo franchise is the most beloved and hated franchise of all time. Most of the gaming community love the franchise and say it's fresh enough to keep play after you finished it, thanks to it's excellent storys, varied and fun gameplay, great graphics, and a multiplayer that is un-matched. Others say "It's over-rated." Now, with it's highly anticipated Spin-Off, Halo 3: ODST, finally arriving, all I can say that it was worth the the wait.   Remember that part from Halo 2 after Master Chief de...

    Halo is back! 0

I have to say that I was a huge skeptic, I did not think this game would be as impressive. Once the campaign starts it takes you into a new take on Halo. I liked the layout of the story and enjoyed the new characters.  Visor mode is pretty awesome and I found myself in Visor mode pretty much all the time.  As far as the Rookie I think he is very much like the Master Chief, a man who speaks with action not with words. He is defintely a bada**.   The best thing about the Halo 3: ODST is that it ha...

Firefly Meets Halo: Do the Shock Troopers Hit Their Mark? 0

The newest entry in the we-thought-it-was-over-with-the-third-one-but-were-wrong  Halo game continues in the only direction the narrative has allowed it: in the past (in this case, somewhere in the middle of  Halo 2 ).  For those of you confused by the title, ODST is Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, a group of elite soldiers who are shot down onto a planet by a ship in orbit.  But there isn’t much orbital dropping in this game.  In fact, you drop once, during the opening sequence, and the rest of th...

A (refreshing) Blast From the Past 0

While some may say this game has strayed from the way Halo was meant to be played, I feel that they are mistaken. After playing the campaign four times and playing a few rounds on Firefight, I must say that this game was worth the $60 I paid for it. I have been a huge fan of the Halo universe, and this is an amazing storytelling tool. The musical direction was superb, and this was certainly a good substitution to a Halo movie. While the campaign is short, it is interesting, and if you care about...

    Orbital Shock and Awe 0

Halo 3: ODST may have started out as simple expansion and something to tie us over until Halo Reach comes out, but it grew into something more and can easily share the spotlight with the Halo trilogy in terms of quality and presentation. You don't need me to tell that you're not Master Chief, the Spartan we all love and know, but from the start Bungie made tweaks to the gameplay to drill in the fact and by the end of the story, I almost forget about the Green Demon. In ODST, the highly trained M...

Yet another great game in the halo franchise 0

The good: New firefight mode is awesome with friends - Same great co-op - New tactics make the game almost feel like a new IP - Great new soundtrack mixed with the oldThe bad: Not a whole lot of replay value - getting from place to place can be boring - multiplayer is only the multiplayer from halo 3.The game takes place during the events of halo 2 shortly after the Huge explosion (caused by the huge ship going to warp) in new Mombasa. And as the "rookie" you have to try and find you squadmates...

Taken from my site, www.gamephile.wordpress.com, soon to be www.scorephoria.com    The galaxy is in chaos. Humans find themselves in an embittered battle against an alien race known as the Covenant, an invading force bent on the destruction of humanity, and damn near close to achieving it. We are losing. In times past, there was one savior. Now, you are five. “ODSTs: Prepare to Drop.” These not so familiar words preface the entrance to the newest installment of the Halo series: Halo 3: ODST.  ...

Video Review: Halo 3 ODST 0

At the heart of ODST is another polished Bungie FPS with an enjoyable story, a ton of content for Halo newcomers and a Survival mode which is currently the best out there.         When a game does something right the normal course of action is not to change a thing. This is exactly what Bungie’s thoughts probably where when making Halo 3: ODST. Yes they have change the main protagonist. Also you can’t duel wield or hijack vehicles. Plus you have a health bar to worry about. But at the...

    Halo 3:ODST 0

Now it's easy to look at Halo 3: ODST as just a easy cash-in for bungie, but once you play it and see how much new stuff is here, you might ( like I did) see a truly great new game. In the story mode of ODST you'll play as the Rookie, who by some very tragic events finds himself all alone in the dark war torn city of New mombasa.   Your time with the rookie is spent mostly on looking for your lost sqaud, you'll find evidence of they're presence all around the city and once you find one of these ...

Halo 3 ODST is worth the wait 0

So, after playing Halo 3 your expectations for ODST should be quite high, you may also be expecting new innovations in the Halo series and a game thats worth the full price tag, not just an expansion. ODST delivers on almost everything.ODST's story is nothing special but the way it is set up is, you play as the Rookie in an openworld night-time city, and search for clues for each of your squadmates, everytime you find a clue you are taken back to play as a different character and find out how th...

    Better than Halo 3. 0

Halo 3: ODST was supposed to be a short expansion but in time it became a full game. Campaign is better than Halo 3 was, Firefight is fun with friends and disc 2 contains all content for Halo 3’s multiplayer. No Halo fan should be without ODST in his or her collection. THIS IS HOW A STORY SHOULD BE TOLD Master Chief made a quick visit to New Mombasa, but then he continued his fight into space. Of course that didn’t stop the fighting in New Mombasa. A small group of Orbital Drop Shock Troo...

I will preface this by saying i'm not the worlds biggest Halo fan, I'll take Gears over Halo most days. That being said for whatever reason I prefer the campain for ODST over the Halo 3 ver.Master Chief. The subtile tweeks with the visor and jumping back and forth between this new cast of characters (Firefly Fans Rejoice) just puts a smile on my face. My only complaint is the campain even on the hardest setting is between 6-8 hours depending on weather or not you bring some friends along it may ...

    Too Fat to Drop 0

It just wasn’t as powerful or groundbreaking as previous Halo titles. Halo Wars was a solid but flawed RTS on console, Halo 3 was a great return of Masterchief, Halo 2 showed the world that online play was just as good on consoles as it was on PC and Halo was the reason for the existence of the modern console FPS. The characters were forgettable, the graphics were reused assets of Halo 3 and the game length was too short. The only really great thing about Halo 3: ODST was the fact that you got ...

Rent It, But Only If You Like Halo 3 0

I just finished the single player campaign of Halo 3: ODST on Legendary and I have some mixed feelings. The single player experience had me hooked for awhile, but towards the end it turned into the Bungie standard of finishing a game "throw every enemy we've ever made at the player over and over again". To be specific this doesn't make the game any harder at the end only more time consuming, but I'm getting ahead of myself.  The story is about an ODST squad dropped into New Mambasa on a secret m...

Hey its Halo without any Halo 0

I have long been a big Halo fan and ODST had interested me from its announcement. The thought of changing the formula of Halo excited me as it has started to get a bit too familiar. Although Halo 3:ODST does not quite do this as much as I was expecting it is still another great Halo experience.  The first thing I want to get out of the way is the games length. Dispite a lot of controversy ODST has a campaign length of about 8 hours which although shorter than past Halo games in no way feels shor...
