Halo 3:ODST
Now it's easy to look at Halo 3: ODST as just a easy cash-in for bungie, but once you play it and see how much new stuff is here, you might ( like I did) see a truly great new game. In the story mode of ODST you'll play as the Rookie, who by some very tragic events finds himself all alone in the dark war torn city of New mombasa.
Your time with the rookie is spent mostly on looking for your lost sqaud, you'll find evidence of they're presence all around the city and once you find one of these items, you'll be put in a flashback where you will take control of that particular squad mate. The rookie's levels are set in a big open world type style of gameplay, you can go wherever you want, as long as the road is open. When playing as one of the other members of th sqaud however the game reverts to familier halo style levels, where the objective is clear and your always being pushed towards your goal.
I found the game to be really fun, it kind of feels like the original halo in that it has the same health system. Also, your not as strong as the cheif which makes the game feel more tactical even though most of the same tactics from the last two games work great here. Along with the roughly 6 hour campeign there is also a new mode called firefight, which works in much the same way as horde in Gears of war. in short, constant waves of enemies will spawn on the map and you and your squad have to hold them off as long as you can. There are also 3 maps that are not available anywhere else. The one problem I had with the game is that the games price is a little steep, even with this new stuff it seems a little crazy too have to spend a full $60 on an expansion, especially if you have already purchased the DLC maps that are on the disk as well ( I haven't but I understand the issue.)
Overall Halo 3 ODST is a great game, even if the content doesn't justify the price. I think $40 would have been more fitting.
