Random points about the main event of NXT this week.

• I just noticed Xavier Woods has "It's Over 9000" on his tights. I hate you forever.
• Dean at some point called Woods "Creed" during the match
• The Buckle Bomb to Spear is a great finisher. I don't know how long they have been doing it but I want more of it.

That AJ and Bailey segment was really entertaining. Better than any divas segment from the main roster I've seen for at least a month.

Am I the only one who is dreading the next time Raw is in the south and PTP come out? I would love to believe that we have advanced enough as a society to not boo or chant homophobic slurs at someone, but I have a real hard time believing that Darren isn't going to get homophobic taunts. I feel like PTP almost have to be turned face to hopefully drown out any homophobic stuff that might happen. I mean, I haven't read the FB comments, but I imagine they are pretty terrible.

So guys. This is basically Summerslam 1997 all over again. HBK inserts himself into this feud for nothing, refusing to job to Bret at Mania 13 yet also refusing to job to Undertaker, after all thats who McMahon ended up giving the belt to.

Now lets just hope this doesn't mean HHH ends up beating Bryan at Hell in a Cell, then beating Cena at Survivor Series.

They are also barely heels at this point if they just went from loud guys who talk a lot, have a whistle and wrestle faces to loud guys who talk a lot and wrestle heels.

There isn't exactly a large gap to close there.

is anyone having people over to watch it?? We try to have themed BBQs each month so this month I'm trying to trick my non-wrasslin friends into joining us with The Summer Slammin BBQ Celebration. My friend has the old cookbook and we are going to make wrasslin themed food. Most people will leave before the PPV but I hope to trick a few more people into staying. Anyone else in the southern NH area and wants to join :) Anyone else doing something similar??

I'm having a few friends over with varying interest levels in wrestling. From an old school fan, to someone who is just coming over to see RVD, to someone who just watches Total Divas.

I don't usually have people over or order the ppvs for that matter, but this SummerSlam seems pretty great overall that I'm going to actually give money to WWE to watch it.

Good for Darren Young, and a pretty classy response from the various WWE people interviewed about it.

Makes me happy that him and Titus seem to legitimately be best friends, that's really cool.

I'd also be happy if they turned them face, simply because the PTP are hilarious and I am in favour of anything that will get them on TV more.

I wish they'd bring back their old theme though

Nope, the little kid in me still marks out a little every time I hear this song / see this video. I wasn't even that big of a wrestling fan back when Hogan was at his peak, I only saw bits and pieces in the early 90's. I mostly blame that cartoon that everyone watched here when it was on, but I guess Hulk was pretty much the first break out Wrestler who became a Cultural Phenomenon. I don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't at least know of Hulk Hogan, most of them have seen him in other things if not wrestling. I remember Suburban Commando, Mr Nanny and Thunder in Paradise all being popular when I was in primary school. I think I just nostalgia'd.

I'm no Cena mark, but I'm not going to get mad at him for having a Go Home sequence. Everyone did, Hogan did, Savage did, even Bret Hart had his sequence he would run through before he put on the Sharpshooter. Hell I can do it from memory; backbreaker off an irish whip, inverted atomic drop, russian legsweep, second rope forearm smash, Sharpshooter. If I have a problem with Cena it's not that he doesn't know enough moves or he gets gassed five minutes into a match, it's that his psychology sucks. When he should be popping up and keeping the match moving, he sells and makes the other guy look stupid. When he should be selling the other guy's offense, he immediately goes Super Cena and hits his finisher out of nowhere. His matches are filled with dumb gimmicky nonsense (the throwing the stairs spot from the Ryback match), and they're just not fun to watch without a storyline involved. Compare that to other legends of his stature, you can throw on a mid 90s Shawn Michaels match and it doesn't matter if you've never heard of his opponent, it's going to be amazing.

Quick side note: NXT's Paige is now 21 years old, so the excuse of her being too young to put on the road isn't there anymore.

So, is Paige supposed to be good, or just pretty, or just given a gimmick people like? Because me and my girlfriend watched that match on NXT and I thought it was dire. I actually kind of dug Summer Rae's offense (LOVE her finisher), using her long legs both gets over her dancer gimmick and also gives her a unique style... but Paige just seems like a brawler. The most complicated move I saw her do was a hair throw. The state of her offense...

And personally, maybe it was just that show, but I don't buy "the anti-Diva". She looks like the proto-Diva, they just handed her black hair dye and some alt-girl accessories and said "now you're into the Clash!" Her ring mannerisms don't line up with that gimmick, the tough alternative chick shouldn't be clapping her hands and pleading the crowd to 'make some noise', she should be grimacing and throwing the belt up and acting like she's a wrecking ball. I actually bought the gimmick when she was cutting a promo a couple weeks ago, she actually seemed like a tough chick who was more interested in kicking ass then being a reality show bitch queen... but unimpressed with her when it comes to the actual live work.

She is young though, so maybe she can work on it.

Man, everyone picking Daniel Bryan to win...prepare for disappointment.

Cena needs surgery (I believe for his mutant elbow). He can't get it with the belt on his waist, he needs about a month off. Someone's got to main event.

Now, I'm not completely sure they keep the belt on Bryan, Orton might cash in and win immediately after. Leading to a few months of Bryan chasing Orton, but that wouldn't be terrible either.

I suppose Cena could beat Bryan, leading to Orton cashing in on Cena. Bryan can still chase Orton, but I feel like if they refuse to let the fans favorite wrestler beat Cena, all they're doing is setting him up for the burial. I think they're a little smarter than that, or at least they've been a little smarter than that throughout this feud.

It seems more likely that they have Cena beat Bryan and then Orton cash in and win the belt from Cena to set up a John Cena and Randy Orton promo down the road. Daniel Bryan is going to be spun off into the separate "corporate" storyline with Triple H and the McMahons.

It's all three (well, the looks thing is subjective, but there are a lot of people that find her pretty). She's a really talented wrestler with much more experience than most other women in the company and people really like the not-like-other-Divas gimmick a lot (which could explain why the Kharma gimmick go over so quickly [not to diminish her in-ring talent, but she wasn't doing much wrestling in the WWE]). Although, there is something off to the Anti-Diva gimmick being face because her initial character (a heel) was about beating up the Barbie doll Divas, being angry/mean and wanting to fight. Now, as a face, she has to play up the babyface tropes of playing to the crowd and selling the heel's offense, so there's a clash between what she she does on the mic (take no guff face) and what she does in the ring. Admittedly, I haven't seen NXT in a very long time (something about that show doesn't click with me and I lose attention soon after I start watching), so I can't comment on her match with Summer Rae, but I've seen her work in the past and enjoyed it a lot.

As for the too young to be on the road thing, if you believe the SHEETZZZZ, she recently had some drama that made the powers that be think that she was still to immature to be on the road, but, in my mind, she would have been punished on NXT if it really annoyed them (Kassius "Doesn't like to train" Ohno has basically evaporated from NXT). I think they're waiting to debut her in England or the night after WrestleMania (there were some huge We Want Paige chants on this year's Raw after Mania).

That was a pretty weak match. They had a good feud earlier in the year, and the blow-off match was great. Summer Rae can bump like a mother fucker when she needs to. And the two of them clearly knew how to work well with each other. I'm not sure what the deal was with that match, but I have a feeling the purpose was to move the Emma/Summer Rae feud along.
