@splodge: Naw, I'm still seeing it.
Some notes on today's security issues.
If this is an attempt to get Dave back, I wonder if the hacker understands how having children works. I won't go for the obvious "lack of sex" joke here.

weird, I cant get in. I am probably banned. THE HORROR! Will I be banned for TNT too? DOUBLE HORROR

Try the Twitch page, should be able to see it there.
Is this an attempt to force GB to stream their premium stuff for free? That's sort of been the MO when the site has had major issues like this. If the theory that the hacker is a disgruntled ex-premium member is true..

If we could not speculate wildly, that would be great.
Oh man it happened again. Update for those wondering: the DOTA stream that is going on today was once again plagued by bans. This one seemed a bit more intense as there was more bans in a shorter period of time. The good thing is that the chat was closed sooner than it was yesterday with the Bioforge stream.
Not sure if it is supposed to happen or not, but when I click the live stream link at the top it says there currently is no show. I am however watching it on the Twich app on the 360, seems to be working quite nicely.

@mattyftm If there's a way to find the guy and make sure it never happens again, please do so.this.
I assure you that the engineers would like literally nothing more than this never happening again.
Top men are aware of what's going on and are working on it guys.
I tried pushing it, but it didn't do anything =(
Why is the chat being closed sooner the good thing?
I think that's where the user was running amok: troll polls, bans, mod impersonation, etc.
@pyromagnestir: because since they took longer to close the chat yesterday, there was more time for people to get banned. Since it was closed sooner today, there was less chance for that.
I don't know if it's related but i keep finding myself logged out of the site and have to log back in. Only been happening since yesterday, but every time i leave giantbomb in my browser, when i come back I have to log back in.

@lanerobertlane: Yeah I've noticed the same thing.
@lanerobertlane: I just started having the same problem.

Engineers have told us not to be concerned about that. It's something they're intentionally doing.

Honestly, if they need audience feedback, they can probably just do "chat" via Twitter. It isn't like you can ever read chat anyway, seeing how fast it flies by.
A chat ban is different from a ban, ban though. It only affects their ability to chat for that one stream, I think. It's not like they're getting their account banned and can't use the site.
And once the chat was shut down yesterday, he/she then proceeded to start messing around in the forums and wiki. I'd think that's where this person could really do damage. Keeping them somewhat distracted by the having the chat up would seem a decent tactic to me.
@chaser324: Cheers for the clarification dude, just thought i'd mention it. At least now I know it's not just me, or my PC.

Ah makes sense to me!
@kerse: they have the chat disabled on Twitch.
We need more puppies! Help us Truthtellah, you're our only hope!

We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on, we're going to survive.
Today we celebrate Giant Bomb!
Not to get all political up in here but I truly believe that puppies could be the thing that leads to peace and harmony to all mankind. As such, I have begun looking into the weaponization of puppies.
Yes, our puppy army will bring peace to the world...whether they like it or not. Behold the future soldier:
I came for the drama and stayed for the puppies.
Keep fighting the good fight top men!
SAM turrets that fire puppies.

That bitch.. literally.
Well ok, maybe not but it could be a bitch.

The Shamalamaman twist here is going to be that it IS Dave! And he's now working for GameBomb!
Seriously though, this sorta sucks. What kind of jackass would go after a video game site that's just around to provide entertainment for everyone. Griefing for griefing's sake is the worst way to do it. There isn't even anyone taking credit for this stuff. At least if there were a villain things'd be a little more interesting to watch.

Or it could be a son of a bitch.
I feel like this kind of thing should 've been posted on the site news rather than in general discussion forums. Or something.
I had no idea as I don't really read the forums, only found out about it as I came to look for information why I had been logged out, and someone in that thread mentioned it in passing.
Maybe that's just me.

It's internet logic, or "you guys didn't want to play by my rules so I'm gonna throw a temper tantrum and break all your toys."
You see, the shitty side of the internet never really ages past the mental age of 6. Giant Bomb is the embarrassed mother in the supermarket trying to make her kid quiet.
The puppy vs. human race war would last all of five minutes. We'd be overwhelmed by their cuteness as they mowed us down with their adorable wittle machine guns...dawwwwwww
@morbid_coffee: This has nothing to do with "Internet logic" at all. It's somewhat tiring to read stuff like that again and again, like "The Internet" is some kind of evil Witchcraft that's to blame for everything wrong on this planet and bringing out the worst in people, that would otherwise have never come out.
Without the Internet these very same people would simply throw poop at places they don't like, stab tires, write anonymous letters, make harassing phone calls, leave burning bags of dog-poo in-front of houses or do dozens of other things that require low effort and don't demand much visibility. And there are a lot of things like that!
The problem is human nature in general, the Internet is just another tool to abuse for that crappy nature.
