What a strange day it's been. But only on Giant Bomb can hacker drama end in puppies.

I've not noticed any more disruption than usual. Good to know you guys are on top of things. Other websites in the past have taken a week or more to inform their users, and that's when there was a chance of credentials being lifted.

A petulant hacker thought it'd be cool to try once again to mess with Giant Bomb. He disrupted chat during the BioForge livestream through changing cooldowns and banning a bunch of random people. After chat was shutdown, he focused on threads mentioning the attack on chat and used hacked mod authority to edit and delete comments. He took particular issue with Rorie, posting fake messages as him and editing his posts to say ridiculous things like, "My penis is actually just two puppies wrestling."

While it isn't good that the breach occurred, this kind of transparency in response to it is one of the many reasons I am glad that I give money to the site every month.

I'm just bummed that I had to stop watching the livestream and chat to get some writing done and missed everything that happened.

In all seriousness, though, thanks for the update Rorie and it's great to hear that nothing too serious was compromised.

I have every faith in you guys to keep us up-to-date with what's happening at these times, which is the best thing you can do in a situation like that, and every faith in Rorie's manhood.

So Giant Bomb is popular enough to get hacked now. Guess that's an optimistic way to look at it.

Fucking people on here can be the worst, but it's nobody I know that would actually be a premium member here. It reminds me of when people stole Vinny's StarCraft CD key on that stream, and then these hacks and exploits somewhere among us (hopefully not people who are truly site-diehards), do some crap like this.

Great for the puppy pictures, but shame on whoever did this exploit. Hopefully all returns to normal.

Rorie has been absolutely awesome through all of this. It's obviously a really stressful situation to be in, but he held his cool and kept everything under control (well, as much control as is possible when a hacker has access to your account, anyway). He's barely had enough time to settle into his new role, and he's been thrown into situations like this. Here is something he posted in a PM with the mods:

Giant Bomb is not alone in this unfortunately. There have been a fair share of hackings over at GameSpot, and other CBS sites. Staff and Mod accounts got hacked; it wasn't pleasant. Sorry GB is having to go through it as well. :(

Meh. I think our site is goofy and erratic enough that most people probably won't notice the difference anyway :D
